World of Tanks Sandbox – Tier X Tank Shell damage and Health changes

I’ve compiled this sheet using the current sandbox data, alpha damage of standard ammunition and the health of all tanks has increased, even though some of the tanks present in the live version of the game are not included in testing, while all nations have their tier 1 tanks, tiers 2 and above are only limited to USSR, British, American, French and German nations.

Note: Premium (Special)  and High Explosive ammunition has been left unchanged in the sandbox.

To summarize, base alpha damage has increased roughly 30 – 40% at tier X, while base health has increased only 20-30%. Time to kill a full health opponent goes down quite a bit.

What do you think of these changes? Do you think Wargaming are stepping in the right direction, or are these changes going too far? Tell us your opinion in the comments section.

Wargaming disables client language fetching

Wargaming had an option for 3rd party websites and developers to get the language that a player has set in-game through the launcher.

This allowed websites (such as XVM and similar others) to show this data, meaning they could compile the number of players by country.  On 2/20, they completely disabled this without any notice.

This could be a result of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) which was implemented last year, but ultimately only WG knows why.

XVM still partly works when showing player nation as they already have this information in their database.

Thanks to Dakado24 at wotcharts.eu for this information.

Data: A quick look at some serious balancing issues – T110E5 Vs Super Conqueror

Disclaimer: This is not a WG bash post, but yeah, this is pretty inexcusable/ridiculous.

I decided to compare these two tanks specifically because they play similarly (Tech tree heavy tanks, plays hulldown, 400 alpha damage, quick reload, similar speed, etc)

The Super Conq was released in October of 2017.

Nothing here is news and anyone who plays the game understands this matchup, but if you want stats:

https://tanks.gg/compare/s-conqueror?t=t110e5

Literally, the super conqueror is better at EVERYTHING except the E5 is slightly more mobile.

2 more degrees of depression, better turret armor, non huge easily penned cupola, better gun handling, a lot more DPM, 200 more hp even for some reason. Also the M103 is a joke compared to the Tier 9 conqueror as well.

The E5 has a better hull but it’s not like either tank is hard to pen in the hull, so that’s a moot point.

To be frank this is pretty embarassing in my opinion, to have two tanks that are so similar yet one is so much better than the other, for well over a year. You can draw similar conclusions from other tanks, and these discrepancies have existed in some cases for SEVERAL years (Leopard/Is4/etc lul)

Not sure why it’s so difficult to fix these issues, or at least make an effort to make some tanks more competitive. Improving a few variables takes what, 30 seconds? Not saying this would fix the problem entirely, but it would at least show an attempt.

Data: New Mission Reward Tank Population Updated (EU)

This is how many folks have completed the respective campaigns in the last 45 days or so. Keep in mind this data only reflects those players who have played at least one battle in the tank.

Folks are still very slowly progressing to earn these tanks…

This data is taken from Wotcharts.Eu as of 1/14/2019.

Data: Christmas Box earning results compiled

200 boxes purchased (50 of each type – don’t think that matters) – here is the breakdown of what was obtained. I understand more data points would yield more accurate data, but this is what I have. You also get three decorations per box.

8x KV-220-2 (1500 gold each)
6x Turan (1700 gold each)
5x M4 imp (1750 gold each)
2x IS3A (12910 gold each)
1x LEFH (1500 gold each)
1x E25 (6700 gold each)
1x Defender (10950 gold each)
1x Skorpion G (10900 gold each)

62750 of raw gold.
122 Days of prem time.
4 Special styles/skins (Is7,Bat chat 25, T57 heavy, Grille 15)
10.3 million credits.
1 Special crew member

So, in total, if you consider the gold value of the tanks(86820 gold), plus the raw gold of 62750 yields a net profit of 149570 gold.

Since a day of prem time is 250 gold, this equals 112 * 250 = 30500 gold worth of prem time.

TOTAL gold = 62750+86820+30500= 180,070 gold.

So what do you get on average per box? (Doesn’t include crew members or special styles/skins)

900.35 gold (Includes average values of gaining a prem tank and premium time)
51500 credits

And no, I didn’t buy 200 boxes.

Enjoy.

Data: Tier 8 Premium tank ownership

So I decided to take a look at how many people own which Tier 8 prem, in an effort to see how WG is doing in terms of selling prem tanks, and what people want in prem tanks. It’s hard to compare some prems, for many reasons, including:

1. Overall how good the tank is
2. Tank class
3. Armor/no armor
4. Nation
5. Price
6. Availability and/or how often it goes on sale
7. Other things (Some people hate slow tanks, love fast tanks, love nice guns hate derpy guns, want armor, want a brawler, a sniper, etc).
8. Misc things – crew size and how it looks, etc.

This is the top 15 owned Prem Tier 8 tanks (EU) from Wotcharts.Eu. It is sorted by # of Owners (Keep in mind to be an “Owner” you must play at least one battle in the tank). Also some of these prems were given out as marathons, and to CCs and Wg employees etc, but those are small numbers. I only listed top 15 as the table would be huge.

Some interesting observations:

Obviously some of these are tanks that are better than others, which is easily known by those who know this game, but you can also just look at the stats.

Skorpion G is a very strong tank in a good player’s hand (Arguably the best Tier 8 premium – it appeals to sniper trashlords and people who want to flex around the map and be useful), and is #1 in ownership, even though it’s not available for gold. Lowe/T34/T26E4/M4A1/Is6/CDC/Jtiger88/FV4202/Strv S1/T54 Mod 1/WZ 120 are all available for gold. The Progetto was a marathon tank, as was the Pilot. So literally the only two tanks (That i’m aware of) on this list that were not given away as a marathon or event etc, and aren’t available for gold (Meaning people gotta pay real $$$) are Skorpion and Lorr 40. Both of these tanks are excellent, and are probably in the top 10% of all Tier 8 prems in terms of overall how good they are.

Let’s compare to a known “Bad” Tier 8 prem, the Mauerbrecher, only 8200 owners, to the Somua (Which is a great tank) – Nearly 26000 owners which is more than 3 times as much. Both tanks are fairly new, AND Germany has a bigger tech tree, meaning more people probably play German tanks than Frenchies.

I know you can’t really compare them (autoloader to slow armored heavy) but the point I am trying to make here is that, people aren’t stupid THAT stupid, and neither is WG. They will buy the good tanks, and not so much the bad tanks. It doesn’t take long for someone who knows the game to know if a tank is bad or not, even just by looking at tanks.gg or a similar website without even playing it you can get a good idea of whether the tank will be good, and if you even want to play it.

So basically, expect more OP premium tanks in the future to be sold, because it’s simply not logical to release crappy premium tanks, because few people will buy them, and then what, what did that accomplish? Nothing.

Hope this makes sense – some 200 IQ stuff I know.

Data: New Mission Reward Tank Population Updated (EU)

If you haven’t already – see this https://thearmoredpatrol.com/2018/10/31/data-new-mission-reward-tank-population-eu/

This is how many folks have completed the respective campaigns in the last month. Keep in mind this data only reflects those players who have played at least one battle in the tank.

Seems like it’s still going, and not a lot of people have obtained these special tanks (yet). You can see the people who own the tanks are also high skill players that are performing well in these tanks.

This data is taken from Wotcharts.Eu as of 12/1/2018.
