Achieve Glory Through Metal. World of Tanks Blitz Collaborates with Warhammer 40,000

Unique content created for World of Tanks Blitz players will soon hit the frontlines

August 14, 2017 — “Victory is achieved through mettle” is a motto that binds both World of Tanks Blitz and Warhammer 40,000. In this latest collaboration, World of Tanks Blitz will soon be unveiling some unique content inspired by the massively popular gothic science fantasy game.

Warhammer 40,000 began as a tabletop miniature wargame produced by Games Workshop, set in a dystopian science fantasy universe. Over the years, the universe has expanded to video games, novels, comics and more, garnering a huge following around the globe.

“For over 30 years, Warhammer 40,000 has grown into one of the world’s best known science fantasy universes, featuring a huge variety of devastating war machines. The opportunity to combine 40,000 with the amazing game that Wargaming has created opens up a world of exciting possibilities for fans of both,” said Jon Gillard, Head of Licensing at Games Workshop. “We can’t wait for all of them to join us behind the controls of the exclusive content that we’ve prepared together”.

“World of Tanks Blitz has brought lots of stunning collaborations in the past,” said Andrey Ryabovol, World of Tanks Blitz Publishing Product Director at Wargaming. “Warhammer 40,000 has such a rich universe, which opens up new ways to bring each of our worlds together. World of Tanks Blitz is a game that revels in the fact it can create a place where real and alternative histories clash on the battlefield to delight its community. We’re really excited to unveil what we have in store, so our players can look forward to some exciting news soon.”

Fans can expect more news on this collaboration to be revealed soon, so be sure to stay tuned.

Wargaming Opens New Mobile Hub in Berlin

Source

We had a chat with Rinaldo Andreolli, General Manager of this new studio to discover its exciting prospects.

The mobile gaming industry is constantly growing and developing, unearthing new hits, the latest trends, and expanding what we believe mobile gaming and tech are capable of. Wargaming is no stranger to this industry—World of Tanks Blitz has been delighting players with on-the-go tank combat for several years now, as well as the company’s mobile apps, VR experiences, and more. It’s a part of the games industry Wargaming is passionate about, and this new studio in Berlin will help future titles flourish to champion making great games for old and new fans alike.

To discover what Wargaming Berlin is all about, we sat down to have a chat with General Manager of the studio, Rinaldo Andreolli.

One of the first questions has to be—why Berlin?

Just like Helsinki in Finland, and several other spots across the globe, Berlin is a global hotbed of mobile activity. You’ll find cutting-edge studios all over, and the city boasts a huge mobile talent pool. Berlin is centrally located, making it a great place to set up shop.

We looked at other possible locations in Europe. Germany and Berlin in particular are home to a huge number of mobile gaming companies, which allows us to be at the epicenter of industry trends and gives us access to a large talent pool. Of the cities we considered, Berlin also had the lowest cost of living. It also has flexible immigration policies, which makes it attractive to many nationalities.

XVM For WoT Blitz Undergoing Development

meaog.jpg

GCD (Grey Cat Developers) are currently developing a XVM-style mod for WoT Blitz. WG warned before that XVM won’t come to Blitz because of griefing and stat-focusing concerns that might happen among players. GCD develops a XVM-like mod for Android named BINT (Battle Integration). BINT will include XVM-like features and a separate group chat, with the ability to send voice messages in real time using push-to-talk. BINT will come next year for Android devices and will be a paid service.

Hungary’s Famous Fake Tank Destroyer

Introduction

After the end of the Second World War, under the soon established communist regime in Hungary, it was unwise (and unrequested) to publicly talk about any involvement in the military developments of the previous, condemned era. Therefore, the designers of the Hungarian 44M. Tasheavy/medium tank also chose to remain silent and its history soon faded away.

Nobody bothered to research the history of the Hungarian tanks and armored fighting vehicles until the late 1970’s, the time when most of the primary sources, the key people involved in it had already passed away. This made it even harder for the new generation of historians to form a coherent story because most of the time they had to rely on the few remaining, sometimes contradictory written documents or on the memories of the people who only played a minor role in the stream of events.

Consequently, because of the lack of primary sources, some outdated books and articles falsely claim that a self-propelled gun on a Tas chassis would also have been designed in parallel with the 44M. Tas development.
