WoT Sandbox Test: Crew 2.0 – Known Issues

Unfortunately, you may face a few minor technical errors during the upcoming Sandbox test of Crew 2.0. We are still working on the concept of the reworked crew system and need to understand whether we are moving in the right direction at this stage. We will polish all the details and visual elements later after considering the results of the Sandbox test and your invaluable feedback.

Some images may be missing in some game interfaces, including the new crew itself. In addition, some images may be changed after the release of Crew 2.0.

The following functionality will not be available during the Sandbox test:

  • All game modes, except for Random Battles
  • Personal Missions
  • In-game Store
  • Daily Missions
  • Hall of Fame
  • Clan functionality (clan landing page, clan profile, Strongholds, Global Map)
  • Transition to the Premium Shop
  • Mastery Badges and Marks of Excellence
  • Vehicle performance rating (WTR rating)
  • Anonymizer
  • Chat in the Garage
  • Crew dismissal

Functionality that will still work without the support of the new crew system:

  • Operations with multinational vehicles
  • Vehicle comparison window, taking the crew into account
  • Windows with information about vehicles, vehicle preview

Sandbox 2021: Try Out Crew 2.0!

Source: EU Portal. See the article on the portal for the new crew skills.

The crew is one of the most important game aspects in World of Tanks. For many of you, a highly skilled crew is a great source of pride, because training one is a long path that requires commitment.

Considering the high value of the crew to all Commanders, we are introducing a comprehensive set of improvements to the existing system. These improvements will allow each Commander to train their crews in a more tailored way according to their gameplay preferences, and to make interaction with the crew functionality more convenient.

Starting on February 23, we will be launching an open test of the global crew rework on the Sandbox server. All of you will have the chance to check out Crew 2.0, the reworked skill system, and many other important changes, including a system for converting old crew members into new ones.

Your feedback and impressions will determine how Crew 2.0 will be implemented in the game in the future.

Join the test, try out the reworked mechanics, and share your feedback!

Crew 2.0 Test on the Sandbox Server

February 23 at 13:00 CET through March 1 at 07:00 CET (UTC+1)

CONTENTS

About the Sandbox

We would once again like to draw your attention to the purpose of the Sandbox server. This server is a testing ground where we explore the viability of our ideas and test new mechanics and possible changes to the game together with you. Each test on the Sandbox server should be treated as an experiment. The result of such an experiment is never known in advance.

Your feedback and suggestions are of vital importance. They help us understand whether we are moving in the right direction, and which of our proposed features require further improvement or are worthy of being added to the game. This is the value of the Sandbox—collaboration between players and developers!

The final form and release date of Crew 2.0 are not fixed yet. Everything will depend on how successful this test is on the Sandbox. These features will not be added to the live servers until we are convinced that we have created an intuitive and easily customizable crew system.

Sandbox Test: HE Shells—Feedback and Reaction

Source: EU Portal

Thank you for your active participation in testing the revised HE shell mechanic!

The number of players who joined the Sandbox test surpassed all expectations. Your engagement in the game development process helped us to collect valuable statistics and information. The feedback that we received and the number of players who filled out the survey show that this topic is very important to you. And the ideas we introduced sparked discussions among all kinds of players on a variety of sites.

Preliminary Results

Based on the preliminary survey results, we can state that key aspects of the revised mechanics were well received—more than 70% of the reviews were positive. In particular, players liked the following aspects:

  • a significant decrease in the amount of damage caused by the reworked HE shells when they hit the frontal armor of heavily armored vehicles.
  • improved UI for notifications about hits and penetrations.
  • the ability to inflict minimal damage with HE shells when “hitting” armor.

Furthermore, from your feedback and the preliminary statistics, we can say that the redesigned mechanics accomplish the intended goals and don’t cause serious technical or design errors.

Current Discussion Topics

Reviews of your feedback allowed us to identify some of the main points of your discussions:

  • the ability of HE shells to penetrate side skirts and tracks
  • the impact of the new mechanics on standard and Premium vehicles, such as the KV-2, KV-2 (R), FV4005 Stage II, and others that use HE as primary shells
  • the impact of the reworked HE shells on lightly armored vehicles
  • the number of critical hits caused by HE shells
  • the performance of high-mobility vehicles that carry high-penetration HE shells (in particular, wheeled vehicles)

All of these points will be carefully analyzed and addressed based on the collected data.

What’s Next?

The next stage of testing the reworked HE shell mechanics in the Sandbox will begin in late March or early April. We are currently analyzing the collected data and evaluating your feedback further. We will also focus on examining the concerns mentioned based on statistical analysis. Keep an eye on the portal for additional information about the content and the exact dates of the next Sandbox iteration.

You have done a great job in testing the new mechanic and your feedback and questions have proven extremely useful. Thank you for your dedication and we eagerly await more of your feedback during the new Sandbox iteration!

WoT Top of the Tree: E 100

This Top of the Tree special will take you along one of the oldest Tech Tree branches in the game. It is filled with iconic German light, medium, and heavy tanks, all the way up to the super-heavy X E 100 .

Despite a mix of classes, they follow a natural progression through the tiers and all have something in common. The tanks of this branch are reasonably sturdy with a nice amount of HP and high DPM. Once you unlock the heavy tanks, you can also enjoy a proper alpha punch.

At the peak of this progression is, of course, the E 100. This embodiment of a super-heavy German panzer boasts one of the largest HP pools in the game, solid frontal hull armor, and the option to choose between two very capable guns. Storm into battle with the 12.8 cm Kw.K. Ausf. E and rip enemies apart with over 2700 DPM and 530 alpha damage instead of the usual 490. Or mount the mighty 15 cm Kw. K L/38 on your turret for a hefty 750-point alpha punch that will have opponents of any class or tier shaking in their boots. But keep in mind that super-heavy also means super slow, so make sure to pick your route to the front line carefully and keep a trusted ally at your side, so you won’t get flanked.

Take on an iconic Tech Tree branch from February 20 at 06:00 CET through March 20 at 06:00 CET (UTC+1) and take advantage of great discounts and missions all the way to the top. Don’t forget that you can also purchase an extra boost if you want to speed things up!

Missions up to Tier X

Available from February 20 at 06:00 CET through March 20 at 06:00 CET (UTC+1)

You’ll have something to fight for every day for a month! This includes XP per vehicle every day, Crew XP bonuses, and other significant rewards to help you reach Tier X. You can find more information about the missions below:
