    1. Nah. I heard from a friend that they were keeping it up, but completely stopped development. Turns out both of those were just rumours.

The servers are up, and the game IS being developed.

The population is miniscule, and even that might be an understatement.

Most of the time, half of the teams are bots (which, for some reason, I actually don`t mind).

      HOWEVER, the game is FUN.

I started playing a couple of weeks ago, mostly to get that gold from tutorial+there was some mission marathon that gave out some gold+2 premium planes (including a good tier 8 one).

I ended up being hooked to the game, and atm I enjoy it more than WoT.

I played the game a bit in 2013., and I found it really boring, and just pretty bad. I`m not sure what they have done in the meantime, but as I said above, the game just feels fun to me now.

For instance the physics are spot on, imo.
OF COURSE these physics are not very realistic. WT Realistic mode does it way more realistic, but it also comes bundled with a lot of stuff that are supposed to add realism, but that I find just horribly boring and annoying (like having to climb for like 15 minutes at the beggining of a battle just to have a chance etc.)
At the same time, WoWP physics and planes behavior is way MORE realistic than WT Arcade (which is just terrible imo).
As I said above, FOR ME, the way they have implemented this is just about right.
Many will disagree, but I think this is a case of “to each his own”.

IMO, the game is good now, and I am really sorry WG rushed it as they did. I believe that if they took the time to get it right before releasing it, and then marketed it properly, it might have succeeded.

But now, it has a burden of EXTREMELY bad rep that it got 3 years ago. And most people won`t even give it a chance. And then there are the WT fanbois, that go after every positive review like rabid dogs…

So, again IMO, people should try this out, without being judgemental. Many will probably still hate it, but I believe many will like it. I mean, I can`t be the only guy around that has this sort of preferences, right!?

I rarely see people being as wrong as you right now…
WoWP has one of the least authentic portrayal of flight physics in any game I’ve ever seen,
But that’s ok, considering that it’s an arcade game.

WT arcade, on the other hand, is still the great flight sim, only with highly boosted plane specs, like more responsive control surfaces and much higher engine power, and on the other hand, detrimental effects on flight are toned down.
The physics are still the same as every other gamemode, including sim mode, only with the values changed.

No idea how you can honestly believe that the physics on a propeller plane from the 1930’s turning on a magic boost to climb at a 70 degree angle while maintaining speed is in any way spot on.

        1. Are you kidding me?

WT arcade is a great flight sim? LOL.

The planes there turn like they are… idk even know what to compare them with. Flying saucers?

They practically never lose energy. They don`t care about the fact that the enemy is about a mile above them, and can just rush them from below.

All of this is WAY LESS of an issue in WoWP. Yes, sometimes planes in WoWP don`t really care enough about things like energy advantage etc, but belive me, it is WAY worse in WT arcade.

Again, I admit that WT realistic (and simulator) battles are much more realistic, but that is a completely different cup of tea. But WT Arcade… yuk.

          1. Absolutely misguided post.

WoWP is built as an arcade game.
WT arcade is an air sim with boosted plane characteristics.

WT is intrinsically more authentic in relation to physics.

And I don’t have to believe you about jack shit, I played both, and I know damn well that WoWP is much more arcade like (again, not something I hold against it, it’s an observation).

            1. “WT arcade is an air sim with boosted plane characteristics.”

Air sim with (much) boosted plane characteristics=arcade flight game.

Take it as you will, and belive what you will.
I also played both. Actually, after getting hooked on WoWP, I said to myself: “I should go try WT again. Everyone is playing that, and saying how it is better. I would be silly to keep playing this if that is the case”.

So, I downloaded WT again (I played that one as well for a short while back in 2013., and back then I did like it more than WoWP; I just didn`t like it enough to play it instead of some other games).
And I played a few battles in arcade, and it felt TERRIBLE. Increadibly unrealistic (or that is how it looks to me at least).
Planes turn like crazy, they never bleed any speed, height advantage means nothing…

The biggest issue for me was that you usually won battles by destroying ground targets. Since at low levels there are less true bombers, basically, the team in which EVERYONE (fighters included) goes down and lawnmows the ground targets wins. How retarded is that? Even if I choose to play a fighter, I have to ignore enemy planes and go hit the AI tanks etc. (if I want to truly help my team win).

That is that for arcade. Unrealistic, with bad basic gameplay principles.

Then I played some realistic battles, and those also had issues (I`m not gonna type it all out here).

In the end, after a few days of trying, I just went back to WoWP. As I said, for ME that game clicks just right now.

There are a few things I would like to see changed. For instance, I would like a bit more realistic plane beheaviour (less sharp turns, more bleeding of speed, higher optimal altitude for planes that did have one historically). But overall, I find that it is pretty good.

              1. In short, you don’t like WT.

I get that, I find WT planes to be bland.
WT plane arcade to be shit. As you put it, it’s a bomber race.

                BUT
WT arcade is intrisically more authentic to physics due to how its made.
And that’s the point I’m trying to make.

BTW, you just described WT Arcade with that sentence. That is how biplanes behave there.

          Like

          1. No.

            Stop exagerating.
The only biplane that could do that was the ki-10, and only because it had a broken flight model.

Things like the Chaika can climb really well (at low altitudes) because it’s a canvas plane with a 1940’s radial engine rammed inside of it, but still not enough to pull off 3000m climb in 20 seconds like in WoWS.

Again, not saying one is better than the other, but claiming that WoWP is more realistic in terms of flight physics is DEAD wrong.

            1. “not enough to pull off 3000m climb in 20 seconds like in WoWS”

Now YOU are exaggerating, or straight out lying.

No low level plane can pull off something like that in WoWP.

Tell me, when was the last time you played WoWP? 2013.? 2014.?
That is, played more than 1 or 2 games?
