Toldi páncélvadász: The Hungarian Marder

The Toldi páncélvadász was a tank destroyer prototype that did not enter production or service with the Royal Hungarian Army during World War Two. The designers choose to use the obsolete Toldi I light tank chassis on which to mount a large, powerful and heavy 75 mm (2.95 in) anti-tank gun. The chassis however could not cope with the additional weight when crossing rough country so the design was rejected in the end.

WoT Blitz: In Memoriam – Edurace

Thanks to Liz for emailing me.

A prominent WoT Blitz member died in February after a long battle with cancer. In the 3.9 WoTB update, on the new map, WG has included a TOG II (his favorite tank) with „To Edurace” written on it as a tribute. This is something really kind done by the game developers.

WoT Blitz: Military Honor

Here you are, trying your best, putting up one hell of a fight for almost a full seven minutes. There’s only a single enemy vehicle left, and a one-shot at that, but your last ally standing remains idle and doesn’t even plan to battle. Eventually, the enemy dispatches the easy target, bringing victory to their team and defeat to yours. Sound familiar?

Or vice versa: several enemies are trying to box in the last remaining ally. However, he fights like a lion, standing in for the whole team and taking out enemies one by one. Of course, he’ll be showered with credits, experience, and heaps of medals, but he earned that victory for you and the team and sometimes you wish there was some way to thank such players.

WoT Blitz: Major Premium Shell changes

It seems WoT Blitz players are the first to officially see a major overhaul of premium shells in the game. Update 3.9 has just been released featuring a change of premium shells being ‘P2W’ to ‘A alternative’.

Things to Know

  • Damage will decrease by an average of 15% (will not affect U.K. HESH shells)
  • Prices will decrease by an average of 20%, with some vehicles seeing reductions as high as 40%

For certain Premium vehicles that use Premium shells more than others, we’re increasing the penetration of standard shells:

  • Churchill III
    110mm to 130mm
  • Matilda IV
    86mm to 97mm
  • Matilda BP
    110mm to 130mm
  • M4A2E4 Sherman
    92mm to 106mm
  • T14
    92mm to 106mm
  • T26E4 Super Pershing
    170mm to 205mm

With these changes, these vehicles will see an increase in Credit earnings.

Some researchable tech tree vehicles had their Premium shell penetration values increased as well:

  • M3 Lee, M8A1, M4 Sherman, M7, T21, M4A3E2 Sherman Jumbo, and M4A3E8 Sherman
    75mm M3 and 75mm AT M3 guns, 92mm to 106mm
  • E 100
    Gun 15cm Kw.K. L/38 gun, 235mm to 258mm
  • Medium II and Medium III
    Gun QF 6-pdr 8 cwt Mk. I gun, 57mm to 65mm
  • Churchill I, Crusader, and Cromwell
    Gun QF 6-pdr Gun Mk. V gun, 110mm to 130mm
  • Ha-Go, Chi-Ni, and Chi-Ha
    Gun 5.7cm Gun Type 97 gun, 30mm to 38mm
  • Renault FT and D1
    Gun 37mm APX SA18 gun, 29mm to 37mm
  • D2 and B1
    Gun 47mm SA35 gun, 45mm to 62mm

Shells for the SU-100Y and Tankenstein will not be changed.

Chinese Tanks Q&A – Answers [Very Long Post]

Nothing Inside: What tanks above tier 6 are real? This response also incorporates questions from: Gkirmathal, mrx, yurrasicpark, IRON, Akina90, Landserlandsa, zzjgo, Deano, and Ahuci.

TLDR:
The following tanks were probably not used by the PLA – Renault NC-31, Vickers Mark E Type B, T-34/76 (I’m slowly coming around to this one, though), the Type 58 is just a rebuilt T-34/85s with some modifications, and the mysterious Chi-Ha with 76mm gun and new superstructure was probably Japanese-built.

The following are real – WZ-131, WZ-132 (this tank is often mislabelled), WZ-111 (only the surviving hull is proven to exist, obviously, and we don’t know what the turret or gun looked like), 59-16 (possibly made it to the prototype stage), WZ-122 (not in game), 1224 (not in game), 122 (not in game), WZ-1226 (or just ‘1226’, not in game), and 132 (not in game, at least two prototypes). There are almost certainly more prototypes not in game that I’ve missed off here.

The following have no evidence to suggest that they are real and are therefore likely to be fake – 110, 113, and 112.

The following have no evidence to suggest that they are real, and because of their characteristics, are very likely to be fake – T-34-1, T-34-2, T-34-3, 121, and Type 59-Patton.
The following are definitely fake: Every Chinese server only tank destroyer, 121B, WZ-132A, and WZ-132-1.

If people show me evidence, I’ll revise the list.

A lot of people are asking me questions along the lines of “Are all of the Chinese tanks real?” or “Are these guns real?”

We have Chinese internet sources posting photos and data sets of a lot of the prototype tanks in WoT. Apparently, most of the data and photos are from various books and museum displays. Not all of the tanks included in World of Tanks are mentioned in these sources. Dddzxc (a very helpful person, indeed), has provided some links for information about the 132 and WZ-132 projects (and some others) and I highly recommend checking them out (I need to have them translated and then I will evaluate them. Various Reactions to WG and #FreeFoch

There have been loads of reactions from various large news outlets and YouTubers. All we can say for certain is that will have a very negative PR effect on WG. Someone at WG is definitely getting fired.

Jim Sterling recently posted a video chastising WG for the incident. He also states that he will make a “Jimquisition” on the matter where he will do some more research and perhaps chastise them further.

Foch’s Response: “Clearing up some things”

I know this the third post, but I felt it was important to show more of Foch’s reasoning and counter arguments to his opponents. Posted on the WoT subreddit.

“Ok, so shit has hit the fan so badly that I have to come out with my take on it.

Was my Video over the line? Sure it was. Do I regret making it? Hell no. Did I lose CC status? You betcha. Do I care? Not really. Did WG threaten to Copyright claim the video and future videos of Any WG product? Yes. screenshots:

Again I did not want this to go this far, and did not see this as such a big deal, but threatening to go through YouTube copyright strikes because I called you names is not really cool.

Some other things to clear up. All of you who are asking: “Why did I become CC?”, well they just made me one, I did not have to Sign anything and they did not pay me anything, and I told them right at the start that I wont change my style because of this and that they should not put their jobs on the line if people upstairs get upset. And being a CC does not mean I have to kiss WG ass with every video, I have like minded community behind me and they are the ones I represent on my channel.

And for those of You who say: “Well you should not bite the hand that feeds you” WG is not my employer, they don’t pay me. I get payed by my community with the help of Twitch and Youtube, and World of Tanks is just a tool for me to do that.”
