In the early 1970s, development began in the Polish People’s Republic (PPR) of an experimental anti-tank self-propelled gun Kolczatka, focused on high mobility and low cost compared to heavier vehicles.
The open combat compartment and a crew of four simplified the design and reduced weight. A key feature was planned to be a fire-control system with a laser rangefinder and night sight. It was also planned to use a unified chassis from Zakłady Mechaniczne Łabędy with rubber-padded tracks, which provided high speed and allowed travel on public roads. The project was cancelled at the sketch stage in the second half of the 1970s due to financial constraints, dependence on cooperation within the Warsaw Pact, and a shift in military interest toward ATGMs.
