WoT: Road to Berlin Main Reward Leak! + IS-2 Shielded Stats

Characteristics and description of the main prize of the PvE event:

On May 4 a new special event named Road to Berlin will start. Within two weeks, you and other players will be able to fight against computer-controlled enemies. Select a branch, complete all stages and get prizes: discounts on the Tier VII Premium Tank IS-2 Shielded, equipment from awards, medals. Winning the prize should be the same way as in previous marathons. The more stages completed, the greater the discount.

Built in 1944, the IS-2 heavy tank (IS-122) was a modification of the IS-1. Its armor plate was 120 mm and was easier to cast. Heavy tank regiments of the elite Soviet Guards widely used IS-2 in their attacks on fortress cities: Budapest, Wroclaw and Berlin. The IS-2 Shielded tank is its modification with mesh screens, helpful in combat in urban areas.

WoT Vspishka Stream Developer Q&A – 26th April 2020

New for the community is Egor Rodionov (head of the game design department).

  • I have been in this position only recently. In many ways, I am responsible for all aspects of game design. But in fact, I have been in Wargaming for a long time, 5 years, even more. I joined the company in the Department that dealt with the global map and clan activities. If you remember Global Map 2.0, which went from a simple interface to a big thing — when a lot of rules changed, new mechanics were added,landing rules changed, territories for different tiers. I took part in it at about this moment. After that, I moved to the Department that deals with the game itself and all its internal elements. I worked there for several years, and as a result, I now hold the position of head of game design.
    From what I did a lot myself, in detail in detail: “Steel hunter”, both Battle of Bloggers And Battle pass. But, generally speaking, lately I have been partly involved in everything that we have in the game.
  • top 3 issues that are being solved by me right now:
  • equipment 2.0 (the most important, interesting and complex);
  • crew 2.0;
    • 7×7 mode from the battle of bloggers 2020 (I really want to make it a cool activity).

The following top 3 issues, but with less priority:
* balance of equipment that will be slightly stretched over time;
• customization
• Many, many different things.

  • Spring balance 3.0: we realized that the players were not ready for such a large-scale change in the game. We will introduce it gradually, bit by bit, more accurately and in a different way some of its points.
  • Blueprints: Yes, there are certain problems with them now. Changes are planned in two places:

World of Tanks NA Q&A – 25 April 2020 with Andrey Biletskiy and Maksim Chuvalov

A collection of the most important info from an NA server Q&A done on the 24th of April. Transcription from here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Xr51aW3gFs

Wheeled vehicles will be rebalanced – we’ll start from increasing the effectiveness of destroying wheels, and if that won’t help, we’ll increase terrain resistance. If that fails, we’ll focus on debuffing other aspects.

Fire mechanics – does a fire go out faster if a tank is stationary? No, a fire doesn’t change depending on such parameters as movement. Maybe it was so at the beginning. A wiki error.

Game balance – why does rebalancing OP tanks take so long? Sometimes it takes a quarter of a year, or two. A timespan of 3-6 months is too short, because if we do something haphazardly, it might need another change. We check how the WR changes depending on the player, e.g. if 50% of the players have a 48%-52% WR then the tank is fine. If 50% of the players have a 65% WR on a new machine then it’s probably overdone.

New collector tanks – there are a lot of ideas, but there are a lot of more important things to do. We need to think about the criteria of adding them, and then unlocking by the player, such tanks as Argentinian ones, or Hungarian ones. Last year there was the idea of an international tree, but thanks to the “Collector tanks” tab, there are now new ways to realize such an idea, and many similar ones.

Sandbox tests and shell changes – there’s a lot of them, and it’s complicated, thus, it was decided to cut them into parts and implement in stages, with new patches, previewed with Sandbox tests. Shell changes were rated very high, however HE and arty changes weren’t that popular. At this moment we don’t want to change one without the other. They have to be done at the same time. We rolled back the changes, and we’re planning to integrate big changes to shells in the future.

Speed, normalization, and RNG changes for shells – we don’t plan to change those values now. We want for each type of shell to have its purpose, and not complicate it further by making parameter changes.

Constantly playing on the same map – we didn’t change anything, besides making sure people won’t see the same map in the span of seven battles. Almost all complaints disappeared regarding map repeating.

Why do premium shells cost more – the way in which we determined the cost is realistic DPM, the chance of doing damage times the damage value. Special rounds have a higher effective DPM, thus the higher cost. One of our tasks is adjust future prices, because the amount of standard damage will be higher.

The Leopard 1 and STB-1 changes were well received. Changes in E-50M, AMX 30B, T-62A? What about an Object 430U? We do plan to find them a niche. The sandbox tests for the E-50M should start this year, definitely. The 121 is in a harder spot, and we’ll think about a place for it. Maybe a higher DPM than the 430U?

Better changes for the T110E5, so it won’t be behind the Super Conq in almost all ways? The information will be passed on higher. We don’t have enough info on the E5, but we’d like to change the current play style. Removing the “tumor”? Not possible, since that’s how the tank looked.

Chieftain and Obj 279e changes so they won’t impact the gameplay as much as other tanks? MM changes give the possibility to exclude Rank Battle tanks, or to put them in teams symmetrically. We don’t want to anger players who took their time and put a lot of effort in getting them.

WoT: Take the Final Step on the Road to Berlin! (New PvE Mode)

Source – EU Portal

Starting May 4, World of Tanks will host Road to Berlin, an engaging new PvE mode. It will be a revamped successor to Homefront, which we launched last summer, and will inherit its best gameplay features, with a number of updates and significant improvements.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe and the beginning of peace time for many of us, achieved at the cost of unimaginable efforts. 75 years later, we’re launching a special PvE event, in which you can commemorate the final weeks leading to the end of the war in Europe.

Go on the Offensive, Commanders!

This time, instead of defending the home front, you will go on the offensive and make rapid attacking maneuvers, conquering zones in enemy territory. Battles promise to be extremely intense—your AI-driven adversaries will do their best to counterattack and regain their lost positions.

Fierce battles will take place on four maps specially redesigned for the mode, including a new Berlin map, which will be introduced to Random Battles at a later date.

The AI Enemy: Getting Smarter and More Dangerous

Much of your feedback on Homefront concerned the AI enemies, and we’ve taken measures to make them smarter and more dangerous. This year, the PvE mode will feature improved AI-driven enemy models, so brace yourselves and pack your repair kits—the road to Berlin is sure to be a challenging one!
