WoT Anniversary – Act II. Honk for Glory!

Source: EU Portal

We’re continuing the 10th Anniversary celebration of World of Tanks by launching Act II: Conquering the World on May 18. It offers you a fresh set of Anniversary Missions to earn Anniversary Coins, more cool bundles with legendary vehicles and exclusive 2D styles, and a very special Time Warp. In honor of our game’s 10th Anniversary, we’re bringing back the unreleased feature, Horn, for one week of the Active Phase.

Act II: Conquering the World

May 18, 05:00 UTC through June 15, 05:00 UTC

The Horn

The horn is a feature that was briefly tested in the first iteration of the Update 0.7.0 Common Test in 2011. Players could have their tanks make a loud sound in battle that resembled the powerful blare of a steamship’s foghorn.

Although the horn was fun, it was useless in battle. In addition, at the time, we were concerned that it might distract players from what was happening on the battlefield. After the first iteration of the Common Test, we removed it from Update 0.7.0. The horn remained an amusing, yet unrealized, idea that only our veterans will remember.

Beep Beep! Give Way to My Tank!

For our 10th Anniversary, this wacky feature will be available for one week in all game modes, including the Global Map, during the Active Phase of Act II, from May 18, 05:00 UTC through May 25, 05:00 UTC. Its functionality will be familiar to Commanders who have played in Italian autoreloaders.

  • You can use the horn 3 times in a row or at any time interval. With each subsequent honk, the volume of the horn is reduced.
  • After several honks in a row, a cooldown occurs and the horn starts to “reload”.
  • The reloading time depends on how many times you’ve hit the horn and it will last for between 30 and 60 seconds.
  • When the reloading time is over, you can resume using the horn.

The horn sound changes depending on the weight of your vehicle. There are 3 different versions of the horn:

  • for light vehicles weighing up to 18 tons
  • for vehicles weighing from 18 to 40 tons
  • for heavy vehicles weighing more than 40 tons

Quoting WG: „Tank Rewards: Players who have received the incorrect styles will get the right ones for 100 battles and an extra Spring style.

Players who received their prize before May 12 will receive all three loan styles for 100 battles, as well as the “Spring 45” style permanently over the next few days.

WoT Q&A with Evgeniy Kryshtapovich – 14 May 2020

Responding: Evgeniy Kryshtapovich, regional publishing producer

• The introduction of more modern tanks, built after the 1970s, is not planned. The expansion of the current branches will be equal to the technology of the same era as the tanks already represented within the game.
• The arms race (The phenomena where better and better vehicles are being introduced) is a natural process that can only stop if game development stops completely. The game is constantly evolving, new events, gameplay mechanics appear, and having new mechanics, the tank is already perceived as dominant, even if the other characteristics are the same.
• The fixed prices in the premium store give additional confidence and peace of mind. WG is not going to change prices due to jumps in exchange rates.
• It is not planned to launch a classic server with closed beta test ruleset, as was done recently with the launch of a separate server for WOT version 0.7.0.
• The developers are constantly looking for new mechanics, like wheels or double-barrels, which allow you to get fresh emotions from the usual game.
• We won’t return the general chat on a permanent basis, since “the chat between the competing teams has no positive function.”
• We will not introduce anti-aircraft equipment, since its purpose is somewhat different than to fight against tanks.
The most iconic moments according to Eugene:
• The release of the game in the “night of August 10 to 12” in 2010 – the whole team saw that the work was not in vain.
• The addition of French autoloading tanks to the game – the team understood that new mechanics are necessary for the game.
• The Rubicon is the worst update in history that never came out, “a hard and instructive lesson, here we realized that only together with the players can we make the game better.” (Seb: as if)
• Update 1.0 was a huge work of the entire development team, when once again it proved that there is nothing unattainable with such a team.
• This year, two nations will be updated with new tanks.
