WoT Q&A with Evgeniy Kryshtapovich – 14 May 2020

Responding: Evgeniy Kryshtapovich, regional publishing producer

• The introduction of more modern tanks, built after the 1970s, is not planned. The expansion of the current branches will be equal to the technology of the same era as the tanks already represented within the game.
• The arms race (The phenomena where better and better vehicles are being introduced) is a natural process that can only stop if game development stops completely. The game is constantly evolving, new events, gameplay mechanics appear, and having new mechanics, the tank is already perceived as dominant, even if the other characteristics are the same.
• The fixed prices in the premium store give additional confidence and peace of mind. WG is not going to change prices due to jumps in exchange rates.
• It is not planned to launch a classic server with closed beta test ruleset, as was done recently with the launch of a separate server for WOT version 0.7.0.
• The developers are constantly looking for new mechanics, like wheels or double-barrels, which allow you to get fresh emotions from the usual game.
• We won’t return the general chat on a permanent basis, since “the chat between the competing teams has no positive function.”
• We will not introduce anti-aircraft equipment, since its purpose is somewhat different than to fight against tanks.
The most iconic moments according to Eugene:
• The release of the game in the “night of August 10 to 12” in 2010 – the whole team saw that the work was not in vain.
• The addition of French autoloading tanks to the game – the team understood that new mechanics are necessary for the game.
• The Rubicon is the worst update in history that never came out, “a hard and instructive lesson, here we realized that only together with the players can we make the game better.” (Seb: as if)
• Update 1.0 was a huge work of the entire development team, when once again it proved that there is nothing unattainable with such a team.
• This year, two nations will be updated with new tanks.

    1. Italian heavies, I agree, but I bet it will be a polish medium line ( with russian variants I guess..who knows !)

      1. If you check the forum post Dwigt is hinting at the Object 780 not being a CW or reward tank.

The other possibility is that the Valiant will be the beginning of a new British branch.

      2. last year they mentioned TD lines for existing nations and Italian heavies, if you consider that half of the work on Japanese TDs is already done because of WoT Blitz, it is most likely that option

        1. They have already confirmed in a recent Q&A that Japanese TDs won’t be coming to PC this year

          1. then it will be for some other nation, although suddenly I seem to remember they also mentioned Polish MTs
either Italian HTs + Polish MTs OR Italian HTs + X nation TDs

  1. Hmm? Two new branches? Italian heavies and Japanese tank destroyers, perhaps?

Blitz got Jap TD’s already I believe along with ATGM’s… the latter of which I doubt we’ll ever see in WoT PC.

  2. “new mechanics, like wheels or double-barrels, which allow you to get fresh emotions from the usual game”

Another developer full of shit. There is nothing fresh about the frustrations and resentment caused by each new shit WG releases to milk more money.

If it were not specifically made to cause addiction they would have next to 0 players.

  3. «This year, two nations will be updated with new tanks»
they already talked about it last year, Italian heavies and most likely 1 TD branch for some country, possibly Japan

  4. «The introduction of more modern tanks, built after the 1970s, is not planned. The expansion of the current branches will be equal to the technology of the same era as the tanks already represented within the game.»

    meet the Obj.780:

    https://www.alternatewars.com/BBOW/Tanks/Object_780.jpg

supposedly a 1971 design with a 3 man crew, all sitting inside the turret, surrounded by a carousel of ammo feeding its automatic-loading 125/130mm
obviously that is only a drawing without a more detailed description and so I can’t tell if those 3 white blocks are fuel tanks or blocks of composite armor (for reference the T-72 was designed before this Obj.780)

thankfully WG seems to have chosen to make a more conventional version of it which I can’t understand unless they already have plans for the Obj.770 (prototype is in Kubinka)

      1. «The expansion of the current branches will be equal to the technology of the same era as the tanks already represented within the game»

tanks designed with the use of composite armor in mind does not fit the “equal technology already represented in the game” statement

  5. “The developers are constantly looking for new mechanics, like wheels or double-barrels, which allow you to get fresh emotions from the usual game.”

So frustration, anger and helplesness are “fresh emotions” we should all feel while playing? This effing Russian cuck…

“we realized that only together with the players can we make the game better”

Nice to see they at least keep up with their lies. Some consistency. /s

    1. Frustration, anger and helplesness are emotions that we’ve had because of arrty since the beginning. Wgheels atleast allow us to yolo rush arty and fight them back.

      1. That is true. It’s nowhere near the levels of pre-physics LT rush, but if there’s an opening you bet I’ll use it and HE the crap out of the clickers if I’m in an RC car.

Still, arty and cars alone do not cover the whole frustration/anger thing. RNG, gold ammo spam, consistent dev dickery. The list goes on.

  6. “The arms race (The phenomena where better and better vehicles are being introduced) is a natural process that can only stop if game development stops completely.”

So we will just create more fake tanks. We did it even when we had a number of real tank designs available, we will just turn to stamping out more copies of Shermans, Objects, etc.
