Supertest: VK 168.01 (P)

VK 168.01 (P) returns to Supertest. Since the last time the model has changed a little. However, now it lacks the 150 mm cannon.

In the summer of 1942, Porsche received an order for experimental and structural development work in order to create a breakthrough tank with the highest possible armor and armament. VK 168.02 (P) was a variant of the paper project of Type 205 Mäuschen. The main change to the prototype was the placement of the turret in the frontal part of the hull. The project did not go beyond the technical sketch.

    1. Actually, looking at it:

      – it has 140mm machine gun view port weakspot. I can understand that WG wants more weakspots, but thats like KV-5’s R2D2, LMAO
      – cupola is also only 160mm thick, thats 70mm thinner than VK100 cupola
      – side armor is weaker
      – UFP is weak enough to get gold spammed by atleast tier 9s and tier 10s
      – it has slightly worse aiming time and seems to have worse DPM too

What the hell is the point of this tank? It literally is terrible version of VK 100 and if you want crew trainer, Löwe is muccchhhh better

      1. maybe this tank was balanced because of the 15 cm gun which they removed without any rebalancing?
Or the balancing department is just bad

In this state they should really give it this E 100 gun I probably wouldnt even complain about it as this tank is garbage actually

        1. I guess that actually could explain it. They leaked the changed stats right after removing the 15cm gun.

Might also explain why Kranvagn and Emil II had absolutely terrible stats back then when they were first leaked. There is evidence on some artworks that Kranvagn was supposed to have 145mm rifled gun as option, which was historically proposed on it. It is probable they tried to give it a 650 alpha autoloader or so, which explains the otherwise shit stats.

I honestly wouldnt mind 145/150 mm on it if it was just a single shot.

          1. Boo hoo dude, we actually got a premium tank that’s worse than the standard one… that’s so sad, at least WG balanced this thing unlike Defender, Skorpion G and Chrysler. Stop whining and get to farming the 100.01 P line if you’re going to cry about it being inferior to the 100.01 P

      2. “What the hell is the point of this tank? It literally is terrible version of VK 100 and if you want crew trainer, Löwe is muccchhhh better”

Maybe…just maybe, this (premium) tier 8 super heavy is finally a ‘properly balanced super heavy’ for on tier 8? While the current VK 100 is actually not that well balanced. Just the though I had.

      3. They make a tank impenetrable from the front, and people lose their mind saying it is OP. Then they go and model weakspots and people say what is the point of the tank.

        You cannot make everyone happy.

  1. Yay !! Ever more fking bullshit power creep ! At least now I can bully ever 252u defender, patriot, liberte and Chrysler I see

    1. Ahaha it actually has 2 bicycles on it! One on the side of the turret and one in the rear hull basket, only it’s missing the front wheel. This honestly seems like some sort of in-joke between the WG modelers.

  2. Massive tumor weak spot on upper front plate, lol. This thing sucks. Terrible engine.

So we go from overpowered as hell prems (Defender, Lorr 40 T, STRV S1) and everyone whines, to the opposite end of the spectrum with a total piece of trash that is 10000% inferior to VK 100.

Well done WG you are the best.

  3. What a huge POS. After Defender and Chrysler I don’t think anyone’s still stupid enough to buy this POS.
The only premium I’d consider from here on out is Defender (auto + 5% WR above your average) and Lorraine because I like the playstyle without having to waste money on gold bullets.

  4. So, what we have here. It got its Derp-gun removed. The only postive aspect of this tank at all. Just the Derp-gun made it somehow interessting as it would the first Derp-gun Premium. However not it is utter garbage. I have to giggle about this monster weakspot on this extrem slow tank.

    1. Yea, its like VK 100 plastered with KV-5’s weakspots and permanent, unfixable engine damage, with absolutely no advantages to balance that.

      Looks absolutely horrible.

  5. Slap some Aquila, maybe some sponson or hull gun while at it, and Wargaming can sell this to Game Workshop as new Imperial Guard Heavy Tank.

    1. The crew might be in a situation where some scouting ahead is needed, not even to spot the enemy, but check if the road is clear and wide enough for the tank to go through, or if the bridge ahead is sturdy enough to hold tank’s weight, or if the field on it’s way isn’t too muddy, so it won’t get bogged in.

Sending out one guy on a bicycle would be a lot quicker and a lot safer for the tank and it’s crew as a whole. It would also save both time and fuel if the road ahead was deemed too demanding for the tank to drive forward, so at least it wouldn’t need to drive all the way forward and then back.

  6. Thats if you run out of fuel of course or if you see the enemie is to strong you have the chance to get away way faster as in this rolling bunker I guess

  7. btw maybe its an early form of caged armor could prevent heat from pen your turret side wish all crewmembers would add their bicicles there

I thought about some extra turretside armor for the tiger II some days ago which really need something to become competitive again but maybe wg is to busy to milk out the community with such usefull premium tanks who knows

  8. Well i m sorry, but that is an ugly son of a tank…
Weakspots everywhere and bad power to weight ratio, ahahahaha sweet xD

  9. Looking at all the junk strapped to the tank and comparing it (bicycle, weapon, helmets) to the size of the tank it looks like it’s going to be pretty “low profile” for a super heavy.

  10. Well judging from all the people calling it shit , I predict that WG will once again over buff it based on “our feedback”

    1. The only way to balance such tank and make it interessting is a 15cm Derp-Gun, since this would add some new playstyle-premium. Any other buff is just lost in space for such 4PS/t tank.

  11. Maybe just buff the engine and we will be fine with it, the weakspots are balanced and fairly good enough for tanks with low pen to fight against.

  12. I was typing a long post…but half way through…WG does not take any well written player feedback serious, besides feedback from the RU regions. So in return their company should not be taken serious at all.
Saves a lot of frustration, whether you still play this game or have stopped playing, but still loved what WoT once was (or meant for you).

  13. Tbh it’ll be rather decent if they buff the engine power, hopefully they’ll go that route for buffing it rather than anything else. Also glad to see the return of the hull machine gun port weakspot.
Maybe in the future it could be used as a replacement for the vk 100

  14. IMHO it needs a better engine, that 4,6 hp/t is ridiculous (now imagine if the driver gets killed and/or the engine gets damaged). As for the armor, it’s not imba tard like on Defender or VK 100 but for a premium superheavy it seems good enough, but not invincible and needing gold ammo to go through (and it might teach people to be a bit more clever and hide weakspots, instead of just trolololo forward T95 style).

    1. “If only it didn’t have these horrible weakspots”

Most comments about superheavies such as Maus and below, and Type 4/5 is all about ‘but it lacks weakspots I can’t pen it without gold’. Also, reminder that the whole Chrysler BS with Foch started because the tank has no frontal weakspots.

Now we get a superheavy that, while tough, is beatable with some careful aiming, and people are angry that it has weakspots.

      The internets ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also, the gun is the same 440 alpha 220 pen from VK 100.01, I don’t hear people complaining about it.

      1. “Now we get a superheavy that, while tough, is beatable with some careful aiming, and people are angry that it has weakspots.”
You see, problem with this is that you’ll get gold spammed anyway. The average player does not have the mental capacity to aim at weakspots, so they will spam gold, and if they happen to accidentaly shoot a weakspot, it1s a guaranteed pen. With no weakspots this super slow and enginepowerless tank COULD do something against the gold spammers.
But then comes the underperforming gun.
Oh, and, on the VK 100 it’s different, that tank has better armor angles.

      2. the thing is the crysler is not really a heavy its more mobile than most medium tanks and it also has that strong frontal armor
A super heavy with frontal weak spots is just something nobody wanne play because you get fucked frontally you get fucked if you get flanked you get fucked if spotted early and so on where is the fun?

I dont even like the VK 100 very much because you cannot change flank and you cannot follow if your team overrun the enemie or you cannot fall back if you are outnumbered all this makes a superheavy extremly annoying if you get penetrated easy facing the enemie whats the point of playing this kind?

With a big derp gun it would be at least a little bit better but this way the vk 100 with a better turret no mg port is far better although I like that the turret is more at the front

Doubt foch would have saied anything against the crysler if it would have 4 hp/t but it has 20

        1. Sorry but most of the Chrysler farce was all about (lack of) frontal weakspots, or that the gun needed gold ammo to perform well, at least from what I remember.

Also, @Sgt_Zephyr is right about most of the player population going for skill ammo instead of aiming at weakspots, but that’s not something that came with the recent heavies, it’s been there since gold ammo was made available for credits.

  15. If they brought back a balanced 15cm gun, this tank would be worth it. Pretty model thought.

700 alpha 200mm pen or less.

  16. So bike is still not spaced armor. And MG port weakpsot? That’s.. a first. As they have removed it on every German tank for ages. Or any recent premium even.

  17. Thinking more about it, no way. I do not want this peace of crap. It will e horrible yo play and If you get into battle, your a giant piñata with nothing really going for it..

40 Euros for this thing? Dream on. Too much for a stat nerfer.

Wonder how many unicorns will drive this regularly.. Lol
