WoWS: Changes to 0.5.12 Public Test
Source: , EU WG Staff
„Please, be informed that based on the interim results of the public test of the 0.5.12 Update, we revised a number of previously announced changes:
- All changes to the hull plating thickness, including the plating of battleships and destroyers, are cancelled. We analyzed statistics and feedback for this change and saw that it didn’t fully meet the objectives. Adjustments to the balance of the individual classes and tiers will continue to be necessary, but, thanks to the information obtained from the general test, we will be able to find a more accurate and effective solution and show it to you in one of the following versions;
- New modernization for the VIII-X tier cruisers “Steering Gear Modification 3” will remain, and will be added to the game. It brings more diversity to the high-level cruisers gameplay, while providing an alternative to the configuration with maximum stealth. This has a positive effect on the game as a whole. Beyond that, we have decided to give the same modernization to all VIII-X tier destroyers. For them, the choice between accelerated rudder shift and invisibility will be even more interesting. At the same time, we eliminate the illogical situation where the rudder shift speed for cruisers rudders may exceed the rudder shift speed for destroyers;
- Other balance changes and fixes are presently found to be effective, and they remain in force.
Economic changes announced in the development bulletin will be included in full. However, in addition, an experimental system for calculating the costs per battle was implemented. The biggest part of the costs is ship’s repairs. Its influence was growing more and more with the rise of the tier. As a result, at tier X, the economy forced the players to behave with maximum caution, which negatively affected the dynamics of the battle. After all, even with significant combat success, a complete destruction of the ship led to a huge repair bill that could completely neutralize the profits. We decided to change this situation and make the following changes:
- The fee for the ship repair is now completely replaced by a fixed service charge. This means that the cost will not depend on how much damage a player has received. Moreover, we have reduced the cost of replenishing the ammunition (or air group) for a number of ships. The positive effect of the changes will increase with increasing tiers of the ships. This means that the players may try a more aggressive and risky playing style. The “to play with maximum efficiency at any cost, even being destroyed in battle” tactic will be an alternative to the “to play as carefully as possible so as not to come out of the battle with negative balance because of the repair costs” tactic. For example, the change will reduce the spending of tier X ships by an average of 50 000 credits and reduce the number of situations where you can go into negative with a premium account, having played effectively. We want to free the gameplay from the “not-gaming” question of “how much I will lose if dare to attack?” ”
WoWS Q&A – 24th September 2016
Source: (WoWS EU Staff)
1) How exactly does the points distribution system work in game? Ex. you are the last one against 4 ships, enemies are far from 1000 points, your cap is not in danger (so it still generates points for you), there is still enough time but anyway battle finishes. Why? This mechanism makes it impossible to get the achievement of Lonesome fighter.
One thing is where enemy counter is, another is where your team counter is. If your team drops to 0… A win is a win and you do not need to sink everyone. While we get that some people do not like this, most prefer a faster end instead of meaningless dragging out of hunt for last survivor.
2) How is this possible: 1 AP hit, penetration, ship has full HP and 0 dmg is done? Please, see the screenshot documentation of the situation here: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/56867-otazky-pro-wg/page__st__20__pid__1205447#entry1205447
Already destroyed module (AA gun etc.) ate the shell. Most likely.
3) Do you plan any change in spotting system to make it similar like in WoT (XPs for helping team mates to deal dmg etc.)?
Check out the 0.5.12 public test
4) Do you plan letting players turn off chat including “F shortcuts”?
We may do it in the future, if there will be feedback in that direction – so far though it does not seem it is demanded too much.
5) Is there any chance that the battle mode where players must cap the bases in the middle of the map could be taken off the game? Big part of players doesn’t really know what’s going on there and the rest is afraid to go anywhere. Such battles usually end in 8 mins and it’s not fun. Could it be replaced by something like “annihilation mode” where players would be getting points for each enemy ship they sunk and if the battle would be about to last for more than 20mins points would indicate the winner (but without capping bases)?
In 0.5.11 we have replaced this system with Epicenter mode – which should motivate teams to fight for the zone a bit more. So far it seems that the amount of capping victories in this mode is not too high.
1. Why did you back out of a dedicated MM for tier VII CV’s?
Backing out of that would mean we planned it and abandoned it. We did not

Ground Aircraft in WoWS? Avro Lancaster
As the title suggests, are ground aircraft being added? Absolutely nothing said by WG has suggests this to be the case, however, in 0.5.11, along with the British cruisers, obviously, the British float planes were added to the client. (Divided into folders featuring fighters and scouts)

Public Test 0.5.12 Update September 23rd
Change 1:
Updated 9/23:
We’ve implemented a new system for calculating the cost of a match per battle. The main chunk of this expense was the cost of repairing the player’s ships, and this value would excessively increase with each tier. Due to this, we noticed that in the higher tiers, and especially at tier X, that players were overly cautious, which negatively affected gameplay. Even if a player performed well, the sinking of their ship would lead to a large repair bill, often times negating any profit earned from the battle. To rectify the situation, we have decided to make the following changes:

WoWS Q&A – 23rd September 2016
News digest by getfun translated by Babykim, EU:

The new RN cruisers:
All cruisers, expect tier 5, have AP only.
(nerf) Their alpha damage is lowered initially 3200, to
1400 till tier 4
1500 on tiers 5 to 8
1600 on tier 9 to 10.
(buff) When a RN cruiser AP shell hits anywhere except the citadel, its damage will be 1/2, instead of the usual 1/6.
(nerf) There will be no smoke consumable.
(buff) The will be an improved Engine Boost, that increases the speed by 15 percent, instead of the usual 8 percent. The improved boost takes the fighter slot. This allows simultaneously taking Damage Control Party, Hydroacoustic Search and the (improved) Engine Boost consumables.
There is still no Defensive AA Fire consumable.
Most other parameters, such as turret rotation speed, rate of fire and the AA auras remain the same.
The premium HMS Belfast will remain an HE spammer, with AP as an option, and will retain the Radar.
(nerf) All ships up to tier 7 will lose the Radar.
(buff) All ships of tiers 8 and 10 will get the improved Repair Party, which restores 2912 hitpoints per second. This healing speed is thus quicker than of other tier 9 and 10 ships. The improved Repair Party is more effective in terms of the percentage of lost hit points that can be restored per second. Normally the Repair Party restores 0.5 percent (HMS Warspite 0.6 percent) of maximum hit points per second. On the RM cruisers this parameter will be buffed to 8 percent per second.
However, despite all the above buffs, the rumor is that the RN cruisers are still not very competitive, and perhaps therefore are far from release.
The new Rank Battle Season:
The season will commence shortly after the release of 0.5.12. It will be on tiers 6 to 8, 23 ranks and more irrevocable ranks. Some maps will be removed, while other added.

On the nerf of premium ships.
Background: This discussion pertains to the upcoming nerf of the Błyskawica and the Anshan, the details of which I am not familiar with (Chinese leak?). Apparently, the upcoming nerf will not be specific to the above two premium ships, but a systemic nerf that applies to all destroyers.
EDIT: The nerf applies to the armor, which may not be a decisive issue for destroyers.
Comment by JamesWhite:
1. We do not plan on nerfing premium ships, whether in ports or in online shops. All assumptions to the contrary are incorrect.
2. There still exists a probability that sometime in the future the circumstances will compel us to do something like that. In such cases we will compensate all owners with doubloons.
However, I would specifically like to emphasize the role of systemic nerfs, which apply to all ships of a given type or several types. For example, such systemic changes may pertain to the maps, shell penetration or spotting mechanics. The points 1 and 2 do not apply to such systemic changes.
