WoWS EU Q&A with LordofDroid, Kandly, Ph3lan, Tuccy, Conway

Compiled by MrFingersEU

How is the Halloween mode being received according to you?
The first version (low-tier) was well received. The new gamemode with the T8’s is being very well received as well, the matchmaker is very well fed, and it is giving everybody a chance to play a T8 carrier.

The Halloween-mode is also used as test mode for features that can be used in the regular game. The “Filth” might come to the game as “local weather” for specific parts of the map, as opposed to the map-wide Cyclone. Also the consumables that affect teammates are also being investigated (both with perks for the friendly team, and downsides for the enemies).

Isn’t the Halloween gamemode too hard?
It’s designed to be (very) hard to get 5 stars in this gamemode.

Preliminary EU stats regarding clan wars
There are currently 1000 clans with in total 15000 players who have participated in CvC (more than 1 battle played). Most popular rental ship currently is Zao (15%) followed by GK (less than 15%) and then the Shimakaze (9%). Excluding the rentals: Montana & Conqueror (more 25%), followed by Des Moines (21%), Gearing (13%), Henry IV (3%). There were also numbers on Moskva, Hindenburg, but stream was cutting out.

AA Changes Proposal/Discussion

This is just a proposal created by Myself, on possible mechanics WG could implement to counter the ever going power creeping of AA. WG has not announced any of these changes to AA.
I bring unto you all today, a series of Ideas that I have discussed with friends, whom are among the top CV players, as well as myself whom does not play CV at all, to have good perspective on both sides of the AA gameplay, and we have come up with some ideas that should be fair to both the CV players and non-CV players.

The year of 2017 was proposed to us by wargaming that this would be the year of the CV.
This is what it looks like so far:

And with the recently announced USN CL tech tree, with the USS Worcester Anti-Aircraft Cruiser, things are not looking bright for CV players.

WoWS: [Round 2] Public Test 0.6.13

Source: WoWS Portal

We are pleased to present to you the Developer Bulletin for Update 0.6.13, which covers all the latest changes you can dive into in the latest Public Test! Read more about it in our Developer Bulletin below, and prepare to jump into the Public Test and try the changes out for yourself.

This update will be relatively small, and is mostly being implemented for maintenance purposes, though many of the changes were suggested by players in their feedback. We hope you like and appreciate the new changes!

Round 2 of the Public Test will begin on 1 November at 17:30 CET until 3 November at 13:00 CET (UTC +1). New resources will be provided for Round 2, with all resources from Round 1 being wiped.

Important! Because the version update is still being tested, the information in this Bulletin is tentative and reflects the state of game development at the time of publication. Certain changes and new features may be stripped or implemented in a different way by the time the final version of this update goes live. Screenshots, specific values of certain characteristics, and details of in-game mechanics will not necessarily be relevant after the update is released.

Round 2 Changes

Try out the Alabama, Lo Yang, and Prinz Eugen in Round 2! Here’s some more changes to expect:

  • Fixed a bug that led to the icon of the air groups selection not displaying the waiting indicator in combat
  • Fixed a bug where graphics settings might not be correctly set when the game is launched for the first time
  • Fixed a bug causing the clan-tag of the player to overlap the player’s name in the lists of teams in battle
  • Fixed a bug that resulted in incorrect display of visibility from aircraft when firing air defence by pressing the ‘H’ key
  • Fixed bug where user-assigned control keys on ‘Num Lock’, ‘Caps Lock’, and ‘Insert’ were displayed with technical text, and not with the button icon
  • Fixed a bug due to which the sale cost of the ship was not shown in the center of the system messages
  • Fixed a bug that in some cases, the game client was not closed when you quit the game
  • Fixed a bug where visibility was increased for some ships (visibility exceeded the parameter “MK fire range”), after a shot from main caliber
  • Fixed a bug when a long name (nickname) of a player was not shortened in post battle statistics

Round 1 Changes

Changes in AA Defences Mechanics

Update 0.6.13 bulletin introduces improved mechanics for AA guns. The ship’s detectability range is now always equal to the maximum AA guns’ firing range when they are firing at enemy aircraft. The detectability range algorithm when the ship is firing from AA guns is similar to the detectability mechanics of ships when they are delivering fire from their main guns, but is applicable only to the ship’s detectability by air.

WoWS Coming on Steam – More Info

From Sub_Octavian:

-The game will be absolutely the same, no difference here.

-We do plan to implement achievements, as well as collectibles, but not with the initial release. Please follow our future patch notes 🙂

-Unfortunately, you cannot link other accounts to Steam. World of Warships wasn’t initially designed as a cross-platform project. That means that if you’ve played the game already you would want to keep using the original client. If you log in using Steam, you automatically create a new game account, which binds to your Steam account. All updates to the game installed using Steam client will also be downloaded and installed through Steam. Same is true for the original client: you can not update a Game Center or launcher installation through Steam and vice versa.

-All new players from Steam will use Steam client for updates and Steam account for log in – no additional installs/accounts will be required.

-All existing players with WGID will use WGC/WoWs Launcher for updates and WGID for log in – the same, no additional installs/accounts will be required.

-However, these two procedures cannot be mixed – so, existing players won’t be able to link WGID to Steam and use it for updates and login.

-For the new Steam players, everything will be quite seamless and with as few clicks as possible. However, we won’t be able to link the existing accounts – although, I’d not say launching from standalone WGC is bad either. So, Steam procedure will remain for Steam and WGC procedure will remain for WGC, they won’t be mixed. P.S. WoWs Steam payments will be done via in-game shop, with Steam wallet. P.P.S. No – at the start you won’t be able to login to web WG prem shop with Steam account.

-There will be more tutorial info with Steam release. Tutorial mission rework is WIP for now. Mentorship is a very interesting topic, and I was going to discuss it with my colleagues.

-The prices will stay exactly the same independent of which platform you play on.

-The Steam intergration will be pretty strong here – as simple as possible for the user. However, this is for the new players – it won’t be possible to link existing WoWs and Steam accounts.
