A Pz.Kpfw. IV in service with the Romanian Army, there classified as T4, similar to the one used by Dumitru.

Ion S. Dumitru was born on 1st March 1921 in Robănești, Dolj County in southern Romania. After finishing his high school education in Craiova, he enrolled to study on military high school in Timișoara, where he graduated in 1941 as one of the best students. He continued his education in Infantry Officer School in Bucharest and after a successful graduation, he was promoted to the rank of sublocotenent (Second Lieutenant). At his own request, he was then transferred to his first operational unit – the freshly rebuilt 1st Tank Regiment stationed in Târgoviște. This unit participated in Battle of Stalingrad, and practically ceased to exist due to crushing losses – only two tanks and 944 men survived.

At the time, Romania was allied to Nazi Germany, and Dumitru thus received tank warfare training programme in Fallingbostel Tank Training Centre. Here, Dumitru became a specialized tanker on a PzKpfw IV medium tank, which was used by Romanians under designation T-4. After his return, 1st Tank Regiment was deployed in Moldavia as a part of 1st Armoured Division Greater Romania (part of 4th Army, Army Group South Ukraine).

The T4 was in Romanian service thorough World War II, even after the country switched sides.

The Ratte of the Seas: 500.000 ton Japanese Dreadnought Project

I guess we can compare the Maus to the Yamato, right? 🙂 Or more likely to the Super Yamato, since it was never produced. But this ship is outstanding indeed. A lot bigger than every possible ship that was ever built. So it is like some sort of Japanese Ratte.

Zipang

Kaneda’s 500,000 ton Super Battleship

General specifications:

Length: 609m

Beam: 91m

Draft: god knows

Weight: about 500,000 tonnes

Speed: 42 knots

Powerplant: not known, but is said to have 6 shafts for propulsion

Crew: 12,000(?)

Armor:

Belt: 350mm

Deck: 127mm

Turret/Barbette: 305mm

Tower: 410mm

Bulge: 100mm

Armament:

50 x 2 406mm (16 in.) main guns

100 x 1 14cm secondary guns

100 x 1 10cm secondary guns

50 x 2 61cm above water torpedo tubes

This ship should be made into some kind of a Co-Op boss or as an 1st April special mode, I guess.

History:

Vice Admiral Hidetaro Kaneda came up with this concept in around 1912 when he was a Commander (not a shipbuilder). Since Japan had limited funds and resources to build many ships, he suggested building one giant ship instead. He came up with this size after numerous calculations to stay level in Pacific Ocean, but of course Japan (or any other country) did not have the technology to build it, so it was scrapped.

Waffenträger Panther Depiction from Modern Warfare

In 1944, the Germans were actively developing heavy anti-tank guns. Since it was clear that mounting larger and larger guns in conventional methods was nearly impossible to do, they offered some different self-propelled gun designs to meet such requirement, and one of them was to use the Panther hull, the also called as Waffenträger Panther concept.

Waffenträger Panther’s partial blueprint

Based on the blueprint, it would use the 12,8 cm Pak 44 L/55 heavy anti-tank gun. But in theory, Waffenträger Panther would also be able to mount much bigger guns ranging from 15 cm – 17 cm caliber. The concept should be, more or less, similar with the North Korean M-1978 Koksan, also armed with an 170 mm anti-tank gun of unknown origin.

Vickers A1E1 Independent

VickersA1E1.jpg
British heavy tank Vickers A1E1 Independent inside the factory, 1926.

Independent heavy tank, was assembled in a single copy and has been used for a variety of pilot programs until 1935, after which it was transferred to the museum in Bovington.

There is a serious controversy regarding the A1E1 Independent, especially with its design, which is allegedly the basis of the Soviet T-35 heavy tank.

VickersA1E1_2.jpg

Western historians argue that it was inspired by it, but this is quickly rejected by many Russian specialists. It’s impossible to know the truth, but there’s strong evidence to support Western claims, not least the failed Soviet attempts to purchase the A1E1. At the same time, the influence of German engineers, who in the late 1920s were developing similar designs at their Kama base in the Soviet Union, cannot be discounted. Also, a British officer Norman Baillie-Stewart, sympathized with Nazism, gave the Independent blueprint to the Germans unauthorized. What is clear is that borrowing military technology and ideas from other nations was common to the majority of the armed forces in the inter-war years.

WoWS Spanish Tech Tree – Part 1 (Tech Tree and Tier I, Jupiter)

From the user named chamorro, on the European WoWS forums:

Obviously, this is a work in progress

Comment/Aclarations section

  • The Reina Regente model in this proposal is the 1911 ship (not any of the other ones)
  • In Blas de Lezo, torpedo tubes are 6 Port and 6 starboard; the MGs are 7mm because they use the 7mm Mauser ammo
  • In Reina Victoria Eugenia, the third hull is a “Hypothetical” configuration
  • Last hull on Almirante Cervera is a “Hypothetical” AA gun layout supplied by germany or built with license
  • The TIII Reina Victoria Eugenia’s hull follows its post 1937-38 reconstruction
  • The TVI light cruiser project’s second hull AA and secondary layout is a “Hypothetical” combination of licensed built weapons and directed imported ones
  • The TVI heavy cruiser second hull AA layout is a “Hypothetical” configuration
  • Canarias’ third hull is the modernized hull and the AA layout is a “Hypothetical” one based on guns Spain already produced or had already bought
  • TVIII-X project AA layouts are hypothetical layouts based on possible configurations taking in account guns at the navy’s disposal and optimal placement of the guns

Let’s start with everyone’s favourite, the T I !

MINELAYER AND GUNBOAT CLASS, JÚPITER

Historical Info sum up:

In 1934; two new Minelaying boats were authorized, with that number being increased to 4 in 1935. These ships would fulfill the need of modern minelaying ships for the republican government; which lately would be seen its role extended to gunboat due to a similar or more powerful artillery loadout to contemporary spanish destroyers.

With a designed displacement of 2000 tons and a cost of almost 15M “pesetas” per unit; all four of them were to be built in the “SECN-El Ferrol” shipyards. The first two units, Júpiter (Jupiter) and Vulcano (Vulcano) would be commissioned in 1937; while the other two ships, Marte (Mars) and Neptuno (Neptune) were commissioned in 1938 and 1939 respectively.
