Wargaming statement on the situation in Ukraine

Official statement of the company:

At Wargaming, the health and safety of our employees is paramount. Currently, all of the company’s resources are committed to helping our 550 colleagues from the Kiev office provide alternative accommodation, early wages, extra funding and relocation assistance. We also help employees’ families to travel to neighboring countries and organize accommodation there.

We would also like to inform you that on 28 February, Wargaming Kyiv donated $ 1,000,000 to the Ukrainian Red Cross. These funds will be supported by Ukrainian hospitals and doctors, Ukrainian citizens who had to leave their homes and other key humanitarian activities. If necessary, we will help further.

WoWS: Camera Improvements — Closed Test

Testing for new in-game camera settings will be taking place soon.

In an effort to make the use of battle camera more practical and comfortable, we’re testing two changes: a configurable field of view option which would allow for an increased viewing angle; and an adjustment to the height and distance of the camera relative to the player’s ship. The camera position when using binoculars remains unchanged in both cases.

To make navigation easier when aiming torpedoes, the camera will zoom out when switching to this armament.

We’ve also added a new option to switch between the standard aiming view and the aerial view when the Spotting Aircraft consumable is active. Currently, it can be awkward to aim at close-range targets when this consumable is active due to the elevated camera position, so the ability to switch to the lower Standard view mode on-demand will prove convenient if a threat appears nearby. The camera position when the aerial view is active remains unchanged and can still be useful against distant targets.

Please note that all information in the development blog is preliminary. Announced changes and innovations may change many times during testing.

Wargaming helps employees travel to west Ukraine

Wargaming helps employees travel to the west of Ukraine.

The Belarusian online publication Devby collects information about the plans of IT companies after the start of the military invasion of Ukraine. Probably, the Ukrainian offices of Wargaming are helping employees travel to the west of Ukraine.

IT specialists from Wargaming reported that on February 24, the company allegedly launched the evacuation of everyone to the west of Ukraine: “The company does not initiate the departure, but helps if someone wants to.”

SerB Fired From Wargaming

SerB is no longer an employee of Wargaming!

On 25 February’s afternoon, Sergey Burkatovsky, known to veterans as SerB, the former creative director of Wargaming, posted a Facebook post saying:

“I support the operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the DPR and the LPR. The rest are nuances. (translated.)”

-Sergey Burkatovsky

The post in support of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine vanished very quickly, and Wargaming released a statement:

“Sergey is an employee of the company and expressed his personal opinion, which categorically does not coincide with the position of the company. All our forces are now focused on helping our over 550 colleagues from Kyiv and their families.”

Two days ago, there was info that SerB had parted ways with Wargaming:

TAP is Back Online

An issue appeared while I was away, it was because of a video on the front page in the article below, that was eating up too much bandwidth. We were not DDoS’d. This is our own fault, sorry for that. This is completely fixed now. Time to catch up on articles.

PS: And about the conflict in Ukraine, I have decided not to post about it during the duration of the war. I believe you can find pretty good, factual daily coverage here instead:
