WoWS ST 0.10.2, New ships

British tier VIII cruiser Tiger ’59 and German Tier VII cruiser Weimar were added to the game for testing.

Please note that all information in the development blog is preliminary. Announced adjustments and features may change multiple times during testing.

British cruiser Tiger ’59, tier VIII

One of the last artillery cruisers of the Royal Navy, armed with four 152mm rapid-firing guns in two turrets — the most advanced and powerful multi-purpose guns Britain had in the 1950s. The ship is armed with only AP shells, similar to the researchable British light cruisers, and is equipped with a solid set of consumables: Repair Party, Surveillance Radar, Smoke Generator, and Defensive AA Fire. However, the Tiger lacks torpedo armament. The cruiser stands out for its good maneuverability and small detectability range, but she has a low firing range and weak armor. Due to her arcing ballistics, the Tiger is best suited for firing over islands or out of smokescreens, if the situation permits.

German cruiser Weimar, tier VII

A light cruiser armed with twelve 150mm guns. A variant of the Yorck-class cruiser with modified artillery composition. Weimar’s guns have flat ballistics and a high rate of fire. Thanks to her good armor and the availability of the Hydroacoustic Search consumable, the ship feels most comfortable in short- and medium-range battles. She’s also equipped with the uncommon for German cruisers “Engine Boost” consumable, which increases the maximum speed of the ship by 15%, helping to quickly reach key positions on the map. Also, 12 torpedoes with a range of 6 km will be very useful in close combat.

WoT: The End for the Expedition Event

Wargaming decided to end with the Expedition event, opting in favor of yearly Frontline and Steel Hunter stages, however, without any tokens or other currency, which could be exchanged for a IX tier reward tank.

The decision was made after the players complained that the event was too long, and if they missed one part, they forfeited their chances to get a tank. In response to criticism, WG removed both tokens, and reward tanks from two of the modes, and as an alternative, they merged it with the Battle Pass, enabling the players to get their points faster.

That’s not all, however. The players will be able to get points for the BP to make progress faster, which doesn’t mean the BP won’t receive any changes.
The 4th season of the Battle Pass will be announced soon, and here are some details:

• Increased the stage amount from 45 to 150, and divided it into three chapters. Each chapter will have 50 stages, and its own hero, specifically a commander tied to a specific tank.

• Seasons One to Three encompassed 45 stages, which the players had to finish to get all the rewards, and 100 optional stages, for those who wanted Bonds. In Season Four, the players will have to complete 50 stages in one chapter to get all the rewards.

• Another change is the possibility to pick blueprints for any nation, instead of predetermined ones.

Season 2021 of Steel Hunter is already available as part of the public test of Update 1.12, and in it you can find all the info about how the Battle Pass points will be obtainable. The displayed values are preliminary, and will be different in the official 1.12 update release.

Could these changes potentially kill Steel Hunter and Frontline for most players? While Frontline is still enticing, thanks to the credit grind, Steel Hunter certainly lost some reason of existence. Combining these modes with the Battle Pass, thus increasing the grind, looks like a bad change for the players. More rewards will be available, but at the cost of more time invested in the game.

Update 1.12: 3D “Polar Bear” Style for Object 705A – Pictures

Style treated as historical, valued at 750 gold.

After launching the Battle Pass, the 3D style will be released almost immediately, but as the chapters progress, it will become more detailed, i.e., new exterior features will be added, and when the chapters are completed, it will become “fully complete”. Description:

— How dare that Welshman laugh at me mixing up whether polar bears lived at the North Pole or the South Pole! He’s the one who’s always asking me about such important things like starting a tank in –30°C, or opening cans without a can opener, or siphoning fuel from the tank with just a straw. He’s an excellent fighter, no doubt, but he wasn’t taught how to survive harsh environmental conditions at his Academy. Well, this is a great example of so-called international exchange of knowledge—survival lessons from me and zoology from him. ‘How aren’t you feeling cold, Badaev?’

Well, go winter fishing in Norilsk often enough, and you won’t either. Continue reading “Update 1.12: 3D “Polar Bear” Style for Object 705A – Pictures”

Update 1.12: 3D Style “Icebreaker” for 🇨🇳 121 Pictures

The style is treated as historical, valued at 750 gold.

After launching the Battle Pass, the 3D style will be released almost immediately, but as the chapters progress, it will become more detailed, i.e., new exterior features will be added, and when the chapters are completed, it will become “fully complete”. Description:

— The more time passes, the more I think that those two are not ones to follow regulations. They’re a couple of loners always playing pranks on each other as if we’ve got nothing better to do. We’re not having a barbecue party on the face of Mount Emei… Here, where every day might be our last, these two are fooling around like little kids. I have two sons back in Mianyang, so I feel like I’m home since there’s not too much difference. On the other hand, I know that serious training is hiding behind this tomfoolery. If the situation calls for it, I’m sure that these two will do whatever it takes. Hopefully, it won’t be necessary, and this expedition will be a voyage of discovery… Because the further we go into the white void, the less I believe we have a chance to return home. Update 1.12: 3D “Welsh Blues” Style for 🇺🇸 T110E3 Pictures

Style treated as historical, valued at 750 gold.

After launching the Battle Pass, the 3D style will be released almost immediately, but as the chapter progresses, it will become more detailed, i.e. new exterior features will be added, and when the chapter is completed, it will become “fully complete”. Description:

— Badaev is one big joker, as it turns out. A real helper. Empathy incarnate. But I gotta admit, I underestimated him. I’ve been walking around here grim as a thundercloud for a week. Not only did they send me to the literal edge of the world where ‘the high is a toasty –32°C by noon’, but they had the nerve to put me in this American tin can. Their reasoning was: ‘Why should you care? You’re English, the manual’s in English, so you’ll figure it out.’ Yeah… that’s exactly how it works. So, Badaev decided to cheer me up by bringing me a book I’d never seen before. Something about Antarctica, he said. It was supposed to help me relax since we’re here anyway. And he believed the author was a fellow Englishman. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that England and New England aren’t exactly the same place. But I appreciated his gesture and read the book… A book about Antarctica while in Antarctica. Thank you, Badaev, for At the Mountains of Madness. That was not gentleman-like at all. Just wait, I too have some tricks up my sleeves. Continue reading “Update 1.12: 3D “Welsh Blues” Style for 🇺🇸 T110E3 Pictures”

Sandbox Test: Reworked HE Shells – FAQ

Source: EU Portal

The first iteration of a series of upcoming Sandbox tests has begun. This time, we are putting a reworked damage system for HE shells to the test.

If you would like to participate, download the Sandbox test server client and begin experimenting with the new feature. We need your support and feedback for the test to be a success.

But before you jump in, we would like to clarify several details, quell any concerns, and answer a few of your frequently asked questions.

HE shell changes

1. Could you briefly summarize the differences between the old HE damage mechanics and the new ones?

We are switching from calculating damage at the weak spot within the shell-burst sphere to a new model based on the point of impact. Also, HE (High-Explosive) shells are now able to penetrate screens, tracks, and small obstacles.

2. What is the difference between HE shells and HESH shells in general?

The mechanics of HESH (High-Explosive Squash Head) shells and standard HE shells will be identical. The only difference between them is that HESH shells have higher penetration values as compared to HE shells of the same caliber.

3. Will the frequency of critical hits inflicted by HE shells to internal modules and crew change?
