Level designers decided that an old map (one that hadn’t yet been converted to HD) should be brought back and chose “Swamp.” The map was upgraded to HD quality (it wasn’t converted to improved visuals back in 1.0 due to widespread negative feedback), after which it was tested across three iterations on Supertest (December 2024, May 2025, June 2025). In the end, it can be stated that this map prototype was cancelled.
If you look at the change history, by the 3rd iteration the map had already diverged significantly from the original and had effectively become a different location.
The idea of bringing back an old map is great, but why “Swamp” was chosen specifically remains unclear.
General:
• Technical Name: 22_slough
• Battle Mode: Standard Battle
• Map Size: 1000×1000
• Map Type: Summer
• Setting: A marshy lowland area that serves as a tactically important objective

Too bad map designers are as incompetent as the rest of the crew. Had high hopes for this one
Should never have been removed in the first place
To be honest, just bring back all the old maps so that we get more variety. Now that we can exclude a small number for ourselves , just bring em all back, and if you dont like a map …..exclude it.
WG’s argument against this is just laughable: “Old maps don’t comply with modern-day WoT map ideology” – read as “Old maps aren’t 3-corridor lane and your resident 46%-er will get lost and complain that the map is hard and he’s getting farmed from everywhere. Jokes aside, the first quote is something I’ve heard Eekeboo say lots of times on stream when questioned about old maps
Nice to have old map’s back brang back more.
One of the worst maps ever
