In 1975, Italy began developing a fire support tank for expeditionary forces. A lightweight two-man turret was planned to mount a new 60 mm HVGS gun. The gun provided good penetration thanks to its high shell velocity.
The compact and lightweight tank, designed to be air-transportable, was intended for airborne troops, marine units, and the Alpine mountain infantry corps “Alpini”. However, due to a lack of component and assembly standardization with other Italian vehicles, the project was cancelled at the prototype stage.
