By early 1945, Japanese engineers, based on German technical documentation for the Pz.Kpfw. V Panther, developed their own Chi-Go project with several simplifications and design compromises.
Later, Germany became interested in the vehicle, as its industry was in a very severe state. A disassembled prototype was transported by submarine for study and to implement simplified tank production technologies.
From earlier post where its armor was shown, I can only wonder why they did not bother to make the mounted spare track links on hull and turret as additional armor, like in some other tanks in the game.
