Steel Hunters Early Access Launch Plagued by Technical Issues

Wargaming’s early access release of Steel Hunters has faced major technical problems.

WG seems unwilling to learn from past mistakes—once again, the servers couldn’t handle 4,500 concurrent players. This is exactly the same issue that occurred during the second Alpha test of Project CW just 2.5 months ago—a complete repeat of the situation.

At 14:00 (UTC+3) yesterday, Wargaming launched its new game, Steel Hunters (Steam page), in early access. Despite decent player numbers on Steam (although the total count isn’t visible), players have been unable to connect to the game for over two hours.

At first, players patiently waited, but frustration soon turned into a wave of negative reviews on Steam, dropping the game’s rating to “Overwhelmingly Negative” (18%).

As mentioned earlier, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen such issues. Project CW’s second Alpha launch had the same problem, and Wargaming has experienced similar failures in past World of Tanks releases.

P.S. The game now includes Russian and Ukrainian language support (can be changed in settings) and Steam achievements.

  1. *More than 4.5k players.
You can play without steam, so those players aren’t tracked.

Still probably less than 10k players, though.

  2. Like i said, every new thing WG release is broken, every tank, every new game mode, every event.
    Every.fucking.time.
