WoT: Play Frontline & Steel Hunter and Earn Unique Tanks for Your Collection!

Source: EU Portal

2020 marks the 10th anniversary of World of Tanks, so get ready for tons of entertainment and pleasant surprises! One of the highlights of this year is a shared progression system, Expedition, for two enjoyable modes, Steel Hunter and Frontline. On top of the goodies from each individual mode, this system will reward you with additional prizes for sustained participation in one or both game modes.

How It Works

Frontline will return in the first half of 2020, while the revamped Steel Hunter will be waiting for you in the second half of the year. Each of these modes will consist of four separate Stages.

In each Stage you can earn up to 3 tokens, for a potential total of 24 (12 for playing Frontline and 12 for playing Steel Hunter). Use these tokens to redeem any two of the three exclusive vehicles listed below for 12 tokens each.

You don’t have to play both modes—the 12 tokens you need to get one tank all can be obtained by completing all the Stages of a single mode, or a mix of Stages from both modes.

Redeem Your Rewards!

All three reward vehicles are versatile Tier IX tanks and offer their owners unique and dynamic gameplay.

  • The  IX AE Phase I. This American heavy with four segmented tracks should already be familiar to many of you. It features a built-in Large Repair Kit and a solid, bouncy turret. In addition, this brawler boasts an accurate gun with good vertical gun angles and impressive penetration values.

  • The Object 777 Variant II. A brand-new Soviet heavy tank with a low silhouette and good firepower. It boasts high damage per shot, as well as good mobility and decent frontal armor. Its built-in Large Repair Kit is a handy bonus.

  • The Char Futur 4. Yet another brand-new vehicle, the Char Futur 4 is a French medium tank with a four-round autoloader and excellent mobility. Its gameplay is similar to that of the Tier IX and X Bat.-Châtillon 25 vehicles of the French branch. You will certainly appreciate its small-sized hull and turret, which makes it hard for enemies to hit your weak spots. Finally, like the previous two tanks, the Char Futur 4 also features a built-in Large Repair Kit.

All characteristics of the Object 777 Variant II and the Char Futur 4 are not final and are subject to change.

You can keep track of the number of tokens you’ve earned in the game client, and exchange them for your desired vehicle at any time.

More details will be announced as soon as they are available, so stay tuned!

  1. I’d like to point out how incompetent WG prooved to be once again.

I just tried out the current frontline, to see how they managed to screw up the defending side once more.

Previously in the second iteration of frontline they said “we realised how big of an advantage the defending side had, so we changed the first two zones of each row of the map to balance the attacking and defending team out.”

I was ok with that change, and the whole frontline experience was by far the best in last years iteration. (Hence i was looking forward to it)

But seeing that nothing have changed, but the the repair zones in the last zone (if you are a defender). You now have absolutly no chance to repair your vehicle as a defender if you are pushed all the way back into the last zone of defense. The repair circle now placed in between the turrets which you are defending, and the enemy players that are advancing.

How, and WHO on earth thought this is a great idea… once the attackers have made their progress towards the turrets, you have no ways of defending yourself, and the last objectives.. The attackers now can make agressive ballsy plays with no consequences, since they can just swoop back a couple meters from the turrets and repair…. meanwhile the defenders are pushed back into their spawn, where in some cases the enemy can even push in and shoot whoever is there for free… wtf.

This whole change makes no sense to me. But hey.. wargaming managed to proove its worth once more.

    1. But the attacking side still lost 5 out of 6 battles I played, with me getting general rank in all 6 of them. I agree that it is annoying you can’t repair your tank but you could just die and switch to another tank. I would say the attacking side gets a lot of advantages but on the other hand, most players are not experienced enough to utilize those advantages. That’s why defending side win more. I’m perfectly fine with WG balancing FL based on low skill players.

      1. Hoping to balance the comment experience, in my games the Attacker won all battles except for 2 (8+ games), and one of those we lost (as an Attacker) was just barely (destroying last turret when time expired).

Our clan all very clearly saw the changes to the maps HELPED the attacker as all wins were steamrolls, so your mileage may vary.

  2. I’m a 53% wr player with 40k games and a 70% hit ratio, who never platoons, always solo pub doin it hard.

    And I’ve never made general..

Hard with 200+ ping to nearest server, and dat lag, for last 10 years. ADSL or NBN never made a difference. Neither did moving countries. Neither did moving servers.

Coupled with my region experiencing NBN disconnect issues randomly, I lose all progress in FL battles if disconnected.
    Currently still at tier 0.

I think getting any tokens is going to be very difficult this year.
Just sell the damned tanks WG.

  3. I hope WG have done something about the countdown clickers in Steel Hunters Solo Mode, Getting Gang Banged from 3 and 4 players all in same Clan happened quite regular

    1. You just brought my PTSD back memories of dying in first few seconds of very start, shot by invisible tanks, that haven’t even moved yet.

      That happened a few times.
