Supertest: Type 4 Heavy, Type 5 Heavy, FV4005 Changes

Both Japanese heavies will have the stats of their top guns (14-cm and 15-cm) tweaked. The former’s rounds will increase in armour penetration (from 249 mm to 252 mm for the standard shell and from 282 mm to 290 mm for the special shell). The changes to the 15-cm cannon “HE gun” will be more severe. The damage of its basic HE round will decrease from 1,100 to 900 points, and the special round will change from HE to HESH, with armour penetration increasing to 192 mm and damage decreasing from 1,400 to 750 points.
Besides all that, the top Japanese heavy will become more mobile, gaining 4 km/h in top forward speed, 3 km/h in top reverse speed, and 3 degrees in hull traverse rate. Its specific power will grow, and gun dispersion on the move and while turning will decrease.
These stat adjustments will reduce the overall HE damage output on the top Japanese heavies, without revising basic concept of these vehicles. The changes described above will make the 15-cm gun less efficient, especially against high-tier adversaries. At the same time, the alternate gun will fare better, in part because of the general changes to the parameters of the Tier X tank, and players will have a more substantial choice between the two playstyles.
The stats of the British queen of alpha strikes, the FV 4005, are about to change too. Most of the tweaks deal with the chassis. The top forward speed will decrease (from 35 km/h to 32 km/h), and the top reverse will drop from 12 km/h to 8 km/h. The same will happen to the engine power (down to 850 hp from 950 hp) and the hull traverse rate will reduce to 26 degrees from 30 degrees. The gun itself will have less accuracy (with dispersion upped from 0.38 to 0.42) and will take longer to aim (3.75 seconds vs 3 seconds).
With these adjustments implemented, the FV 4005 will retain its key feature—HESH shells with high armour penetration allowing for colossal alpha—with the overall effectiveness of the vehicle decreasing only slightly. The FV 4005 will continue to be a mighty combatant able to take out an enemy with a single strike, yet it will need more time to prepare that shot.

  1. While I’d argue that the Japanese tanks also need freaking weakspots to shoot at, this at least addresses one of their major problems so I guess we can look at a glass half full.
    On the other hand, so long as FV will have those dumb tard HESH ammo nothing will change.

      1. The only thing that makes the port-o-john on tracks a threat is HESH, and AP to a slightly lesser extent. The idiocy here however is that this thing was more or less balanced around HESH (reminder, currently this is THE strongest gun in the game, not even Tier 10 arty comes close), and from what I read in the article WG has absolutely no intention of addressing that. And so FV 4005 gets more and more crappy and unwieldy, while what makes it so broken stays unaltered.

        1. so what? it has no armor, long ass reload , shitty gun handling and the worst pen at tier 10. if it would have the old HESH pen that death star had back in the day( 280 or something like that ) THEN it will be broken. tell me, how often do you get killed by a shitbarn? and do you have it? if you do, then how often do you pen things? to be honest , i’m more afraid of batchats and to a degree of 50b’s and t57heavys (and type4/5s, of course ) than a shitbarn….

          1. Don’t have it, and almost never get killed by it because it’s a pretty rare sight (EU server here) and it’s a priority target when spotted. But it doesn’t change the fact that a tank that can oneshot almost anything in its MM bracked is completely stupid and should’ve never been made in the first place. Old pen was 275 btw.
            And no, the “worst pen” is not an argument since HESH works like HE when it does not pen, and AP has 310 pen which is among the highest standard pen values available.

          2. More afraid of other things, sure. Because those things have higher consistency in their performance, (but even so, for example, a bat chat needs to spend at least 14 sec to unload). Yes, the 183 will rarely penetrate most (?) of Tier 10s.
            But does that make it okay? Is it good for the game that at any moment a 183 redlineing or driving around a corner of a building can get lucky and oneshot a tank of the same level? (not even talking of Tier 8s)
            It is a stupid tank concept by itself. Yes, it may not be OP, but does that make it all right? This nerf just makes it more unpleasant to play with, and yes, obviously this will also slightly decrease how often it hits and how long it lives. But is that a good game design? (Should a tank feel like Shit to play with while making it shit to play against as well?) Is “It does not pen often” mean that it is all right? (I have seen a Maus get penetrated in the side with 183 HESH, T110E5 can be pened in the lover plate and sides, as well as many other tanks).
            Sure, __generally speaking__, a great player in S.Conqueror, IS7, WZ111-5, 430U etc. will be more dangerous, _but that is not the point_.
            There may not be a lot of Leo1, STB1 etc. on T10, but it is not nice getting penned by that thing, and some people like playing those tanks.

            1. yes, it is ok and fair , why not? there must be some kind of diversity in game. why, you want to play only tanks with 400 alpha damage , or tds with 750? the only thing that is not ok and i really really hate in wot is arta because you are not safe almost anywhere on almost any map and those retarded heavy japanese tanks with shitload of armor that you can’t pen it even with gold half of times.THIS it is unfair by definition , not shitbarn ….

  4. In my opinion, the FV4005 was never such a big problem as the japanese heavies, after all, the thing has just 0 armor, the types however, are only to defeat with Prem Ammo, the FV on the other hand shoots once and then get destroyed with HE from every f*cking Tank and the goddamn Clickers.

    1. the problem with japanese heavys is that even with gold you can’t pen them…. i had games in my e5 when i’v shot all my 10 gold shells at a type5 heavy and i bounced, because reasons (and i do know where to shoot) …. this is why now i have more gold on my tanks….

  5. FV4005 nerf. I’d say it was a good thing but again they’re going on a tangent.
    It is the ability to one shot vehicles that is a problem here, not the mobility. The latter should remain as it is now, but not the gun.
    No vehicle should be able to one shot the other, much less from across the map.

    1. I agree. They castrated arties basically for this reason, so this nerf on the Derpstar is just uncalled for.

    2. no vehicle? go cry about the KV2, O-I, KV1S, Su100, SU100Y before you cry about the 4005. among all these tanks, you KNOW the 4005 is most balanced.
      did you know the only tier X tanks that have less than 1750 HP are the scouts? minimum TD hp is 1800. you have a 45%~ chance of a oneshot given you penetrate. if you play against or prepare for a 183mm hit, ASSUME its hesh and show side armor or tracks if it is spaced depending on the tank. just make sure all shown armors are at least 230mm. its easy.

  6. i dont see why the shitbarn accuracy got nerfed, i understand why they halved the mobility, but why make it to where you cant aim anymore, and now sniping is impossible.
    this thing now has 8 reverse speed, 10mm of armor, tall as shit, and no camo. most maps literally dont let you double bush and force you to sit on an exposed hill if you want to contribute as a TD. once you are spotted here with the new mobility? take an extra few more hits. you already take a ton, now you just die, basically

  7. if this is to balance the tank for the prem shell update, they need to address the standard HE. they need to make the penetration at least 180 or the alpha at least 2000.

  8. I think they should keep the Derp standard ammo Dmg at 1100, and just plain remove the premium from it. I say this because honestly the real thing people hate is the 1400 dmg ammo, and other 150mm guns at this tier also have 1100 dmg HE, plus it makes it unique. What it really needs is some armor rebalance. SOme people want the HE gun gone, but I think having a derp line is great, its like playing a KV2 at any tier.
