        In reality, 257 is an IS-7 project where the final drive was electrical or somesuch and mounted below the engine, giving it the high ride height, low suspension travel, and short hull (even as it is, it’s too tall).
        
        I see why they went with the IS-7 over the 257. In very real terms, they gave up a lot of desireable characteristics just to cut down the weight.

I love them, even though the the rear-turreted heavy branch looks somewhat odd (like tanks with turrets pointing backwards …). Obj 257 is pretty cool IMHO!
