WoT: 9.18 Common Test – Micro Patch

Based on your feedback and data collected during the 9.18 Common Test, we landed on a set of changes that rolled out in a micro patch earlier today:

  • No artillery in Platoons. You were vocal about mismatched scenarios, when a Platoon of three SPGs was placed at the top of the list and the team ended up with three long-range support fire vehicles as their main strength. The other frustrating issue was frequent cases of arty giving its all to support fellow Platoon-members and totally neglecting the rest of the team. To eliminate both problems, we decided to stop SPGs from forming and joining Dynamic and regular Platoons. Removing the option to play in Platoons should facilitate team cooperation and aid the matchmaker in creating balanced teams. Individual Battle Missions were updated accordingly. We removed Platoons from their conditions.
  • Balance tweaks to light tanks. The initial balance settings improved their view range too much, blurring the line between light and medium vehicles. They had a large enough view range to scout efficiently by default. So, you could install additional equipment, train skills and perks to increase their firepower to the point where they could compete with medium vehicles. Along with being great scouts, they would deal almost as much damage as some medium tanks. We averaged out their firepower to draw a thicker line between these two classes in terms of their combat roles. Light tanks keep their trademark mobility, high camo values, and lower durability, just as they still outperform medium vehicles at scouting. At the same time, their firepower was reduced and is lower than that of medium tanks. It’s enough to retaliate yet isn’t enough to make dealing damage their first priority in combat. Their view range also decreased, too. Now, you have to mount Coated Optics/Binocular Telescope and train Crew perks to improve it from the default.

  • Fixed the issue related to display of settings in the vehicle comparison.
  • Fixed the issue related to display of the context menu from the Add to Comparison button in the Store.
  • Fixed the issue related to display of the Marks of Excellence on the T-50’s guns.
  • Fixed the issue related to overlapping between the muzzle brake and the gun screens of the T-60.
  • Fixed the issues related to the tracks and rollers of the following vehicles: Pz.Sfl. IVb, T-50, Pz. IV Ausf A, AT-8
  • Fixed the issue related to display of the upper cover above the gun for the following vehicles: SP I C and HWK 12.
  • Fixed the issues related to application of the camouflage to the M4 Thunderbolt.
  • Fixed the issues related to display of the firing gun of the the M4 Thunderbolt at the minimum graphical settings.
  • Fixed the issues related to display of the FV3805’s guns.
  • Fixed minor technical issues.

    2. That might be true. But why all the salt regarding this when this is affecting a TEST server? It is running to test new stuff and changes. If it affects T10 light tank gameplay too negatively they’ll do a roll back.

      They are nerfing alpha and viewrange on these so T9 Medium tanks stay relevant. In my opinion they are trying to force you to choose between optics and firepower.

      What I don’t get on the other hand is the lowering of ammocapacity along with the lower alpha and accuracy nerfs.

  3. IDGAF about arty platoons but what the fuck have they done with lights. Why would anyone play them like this?
    They reduced firepower. I find that stupid because you need firepower, considering how bad maps/teammates are, you have to carry in LT’s aswell and scouting is not the most effective thing on current map pool, but fair enough.

    However, they reduced VR aswell. 13 90, T9 LT now has 380m of viewrange. That’s nothing special for a T8 medium. How are they supposed to scout if their viewrange is trash aswell. Again, I might kinda agree that some tanks had too much VR, but they should have done a 5-10m on some tanks. Not 10-20m on every single one.

    Also other minor nerfs. AMX line getting laughably low ammo capacity. You thought 30 shells on batchat is bad? AMX has max damage potential of 8640 DMG. That is if you hit and penetrate every shell, and don’t kill tanks. In reality that’s more like 6-7k DMG and you have at the very least split magazines, if not out of ammo.
    T-100 has 0.46 accuracy. That is KV-3/IS-6 levels of accuracy. It’s only 0.04 better than Type 5… with derp that hits for 400-600 anywhere you shoot. It’s almost double of what STRV 103B has in siege (0.25).

I am sincerely hoping they are just testing extreme scenarios and that they will revert most of the changes back. Or that the braindead-heavy-tank-driving-hordes on RU servers were crying “Cyka blyat stupid fast tonks penned my tier 10 heavy from side. Nerf now blyats!!!” which led to nerfs.

  5. The LTs was too strong so I am glad they were nerfed. Remember, these LTs also see two tier lower tanks. Arty and LTs and TDs are problematic and game changing.

    I don’t see a problem in t6~t8 scouts, except Bulldog needed to nerf the clips. Nerfing LTs view range by 20m is just return to old state where LT is not too useful other than a 5skills crew+food to boost performance

    1. But now the Bulldog have the same clip size and damage as the T71 but with +15 seconds loading the clip, so the T71 has better clip potential and DPM at tier VII than the Bulldog in tier VIII with almost the same gun stats.

  13. wow the totally killed the lts now i have pretty much no reason to grind them now they dont even have the standard view range advatage… they nerfed the ammo capacitys to hell as well so now you cant take more than a couple risk shots a game for fear of running out of ammo. them saying they were too good is just wrong. sure they had better view range and were smaller but their firepower didnt compete with tier 10 meds at all and now with these changes the tier 10 lts have gone from the things i was so excited for to things ive no interest in… also they dont even have that much of an advantage in view range or speed over the tier 10 meds so this is tragic.

  15. T-100 0.46 gun accuracy ahahahaaa wg your having a fucking laugh. With accuracy like that you’d expect deep gun damage not a shitty 300 alpha that will miss unless your directly in front of a barn door. View range needed too much, more ammo morons.
    Arty changes not too bothered about, but max 1 arty in platoon would have been more logical. Especially for arty missions, since let’s face it, 90% of wot community are complete retards and cannot be relied on to do the simplest of things in matches.

  16. The worst problem is not light tanks doing too much damage – it’s mediums spotting too far… Most maps mediums and some heavies easily spot everything necessary most of the time

    1. I do not see problem in mediums spotting too much or light tanks doing too much damage. You can’t expect your team being a team, cause third of players play selfishly and third of players have zero idea what to. Tier X is an exception with players being more experienced and more selfish.
      In my opinion tanks should have about a same chance to influence the game (arty being exception as low-risk, low-reward for worse players) and it’s about damage, spotting and flexibility and power to stall other team.

    What the hell is a point of light tanks, when they have similar view range as medium or heavy tanks of the same tier? Now we have fast cripples that have no view range, no hitpoints and inaccurate guns to be competitive. They trade everything for being flexible, but some mediums are flexible as well (Bats, Leopards, Obj140, ŠkodaT50, T-54, T20, Cromwell)

    1. Yes, WG. We are asking for limiting SPG in platoon, but NOT prohibiting ANY arty in platoon. What we ask is removing chance of platoon of 3 BC-155-58 or 3 LeFH, since they are will make any player on the receiving side suffer. It could also reduce the number the arty in the game overall.

    However you decided to go overboard and removing all of them in platoon. No more cooperation between LT and SPG? No more helping a friend to complete a SPG mission who he don’t want to do but he have to?

    2. This is WG listening to the wrong crowd. People who moan that LT will make MT useless are clearly the victim of hype and don’t realize that MT still has superior HP, armor, gun handling, and DPM compared to LT.

    Okay, some LT could use some damage nerf (Bulldog), but THIS? In this rate people who own premium LT will just LAUGH very hard since even now they are already a little bit superior compared to normal LT. Now they will be insanely strong in vision + firepower that it’s not even funny anymore.

    So yeah, I will make my complain known. If anything, so far WG WILL listen if we rage hard enough.

  22. I dont care about bad guns on LT as they used to be much worse. However i do care about their vision and stealth. A batchat or an obj sitting in a bush will outspot and or do a fine job scoutting as a light which seem legit as fvck. The bat and czech can even do active scouting , so whats there for LT in this stupid corridor meta to do. This vision nerf us stupid as fvck cause many meds carry optic and you will never do have a clear advantage for like 85% of the map and a specific few positions

  23. The real problum is WG won’t fix the real problum the maps. There maps are to small and most force fights to happen in 200 M fire lanes. Scout tanks a worth less in the map meta at hand why scout at all when 90% of the time a heavy is spotting everything that can shot at it. Passive scouting is almost dead and active scouting just gets you killed with how good the guns are. So the balance is out of wack it’s the same problum you see with some of the tank destroyers they just don’t work with the maps at all. They need to rebalance the map some times your fighting in a urban setting where the heavy tanks with there armor and med tanks with there dpm rule. Other times it’s a wooded area where TD and lights will reck your day long range sniping you for making a bad move but with maps they way they are right now there real is not a lot of the latter and a hell of a lot of the former.

  25. It is a shame that the M7 is getting nerfed yet again. Despite the fact hat it never got scout matchmaking and always was a tier 5 tank(saw 5-7 tiers) they have nerfed both guns, and now the view range–all in rerturn for a mild increase in speed. As planned, this tank will be not worth playing. The tank should have it’s regular view range (380 m) and have both guns restored to what they were as a medium tank.

  26. why… these poor LTs… i get they dont want you to have crazy firepower.. but what can you do with 380 view range at tier 9!! there are tier 8s with better view range (FCM 50t has 400 at tier VIII and it’s a HEAVY)… now you can neither spot nor fight… well done WG now these tanks are more or less what they were before the patch: clearly underpowered. Also, using LTs in CWs is now completely pointless as mediums can spot more and have more firepower AND more armor… only thing u can do better is mobility wow such a strong class! COME ON

  28. Apparently the reload time of the Bulldog got reduced to around 35s, instead of the mentioned 40s, and together with the benefits of being able to fit a gun rammer on the autoloader, it reduces itself to up to 30s. Yet even so its DPM lacks behind with a difference of 500!
    WG seriously needs to stop sticking their heads into raging 12yo’s asses.

      1. we have to have faith that they will, if they dont want a lot of work (and money) put into the patch just thrown out the window as they reverse the entire LT update in 9.18.1 probs if it is like this… they’ll see that high tier LTs are not played by anyone and realize that they fucked up… Hopefully we can prevent this shit by writing on the Forum and hoping they read some of the messages, especially if they all say the same things 😉

    Now, instead of arty having good communication and good teamwork with just their platoonmate, they’ll have good comms and teamwork with nobody!

    Why then no Skoda 50/51 platoons ? Or BatChat platoons ? They also spoil the game 🙂

    WG ideas how to fix this product are even more retarded than this product itself.
