WoWS: Wargaming EU Rant

By MrFingersEU

So, we’re in December now, and there have been some changes happening on the EU-side of this game. Back in October I made a pretty harsh but still polite post about the EU-staff going belly-up and doing strange things, which got responded to by fellow redditors in a confirmatory fashion and reaped some acclaim. I was reassured by Sub_Octavian that it was heard by the right people… Turns out that it might have been heard, and then got ignored, like so much gets ignored.

RIP Bootcamp Missions, Welcome Weekly Missions

In December we saw the demise of the weekly Bootcamp missions (better known as the same c**p reheated over and over and over and over again), which were replaced with great fanfare by the new Weekly Missions. The Bootcamp missions didn’t catch on (anymore) due to the very repetitive kind of them (there were only a few missions, and every 2 weeks they got recycled without a single adjustment), plus they had pretty steep requirements, especially in correspondence to the meagre rewards you’d get from them, which made them not really worth it to invest time into them. So they got binned, and replaced by new weekly missions, tied (loosely) around historical happenings, which upped the rewards you’d get from them… So far so good, that sounds like a pretty decent improvement… But the requirements got upped as well, and while they were pretty steep on the Bootcamp-missions, they are now absolutely ludicrous for the Weekly Missions. So ridiculous that the Bootcamp missions looked very fair. Is that the way you want to entice players to play the game? To give them a set of missions that require you to have a substantial port AND unicum-stats in order to get a chance to fulfil them, AND a need to have the RNG in your favour. How do you think that is being received by Joe Average? Meanwhile on the other side of the pond there are easy missions with decent-but-not-stellar rewards. Not grindy, nor unicum, just a nice little extra. Casual & laid-back.

WoWS Q&A – 9th December 2016

Thanks to Babykim, EU

Disclaimer: Most questions and some answers are long and sloppy. The following translation aims to convey the information as precisely as possible, it is not verbatim.

Q: Can you hand over control of a ship to the AI after a fixed period of initial inactivity, without rewarding the AFK player with silver and experience?
A: We plan testing such this option, but cannot say if or when it will be implemented in the game. Thank you for an interesting suggestion.

Q: Do you plan changes to the rules of ranked battles?
A: We hold the rules of the fifth season for close to ideal, and will most probably not change them for the next season.

Q: Can we view the upgrades and consumables of un-researched ships in port?
A: Not in the near future, but thank you for an interesting suggestions.

Q: Do you plan an alternative means of resetting captain skills?
A: We plan an alternative, but it is too early to disclose. Follow the news.

WoWS: TAP Insider News (6-XII-2016)

Not really a leak, but a nice insight into stuff.

-Seems like the Japanese Destroyer revamp was a disappointment. The torpedo boat line can not bloody act like torpedo boats, while the sub-branch that aims to be a gunboat line is happening to have a torpedo boat with Jesus-god-give-me-mercy torpwall (I thought Lesta was trying to get rid of torpwall few patches ago?) 16 torpedoes and acceptable guns for a tier 7, way better than the torpedo boat line <- Thanks to Asian ST weeaboos for crying Akizuki was underpowered but totally forgot this bloody annoying-POI-spam-in-chat-every-battle. They will be rebalanced one more time.

-There will be two new campaigns in 0.5.16 to be exact, the current ones will stay.
-A little adventure to Chinese WoWS and I was surprised that some of the Chinese I made contact with are owning a lot of supertester accounts, ready for rent. They will guide buyers from A to Z how to do all the tasks, what to do and not to do in supertest/live server. No selling unless you have proven yourself that you can be trusted and that you will not backstab them by reporting to Wargaming about selling/renting superester accounts.
