Two new patches were added to the game, they will be issued for participation in the Steel Hunter mode of Battle Royale World of Tanks 2019. The mode uses a system of chevrons from Ranked battles, awards are given forever.

The fundamental nature of naval warfare shifted drastically with the coming of advanced submarines and the new tactics they introduced. Going below sea level will open a completely new dimension for players, who have been asking for this iconic class of ships since the game was launched in 2015.

In the next couple of weeks, players will get a first glimpse of submarines during the upcoming Super Test phase. Prospective commanders can already look forward to this fall’s PvP event, which will let them try out submarines from the first three nations for a limited time to evaluate the changes brought by the introduction of the new ship-class before its actual release. Wargaming is looking to expand the selection of submarines to other nations in the future, with the Japanese fleet to follow, as well as the future introduction of additional researchable and premium ships.
Speaking at Gamescom, a spokesperson for the studio said “I want to stress, it’s following the same business model as World of Tanks. It’s free-to-play, but of course we need to sell some stuff in the game to make some money.”
However, it looks like the content you’ll be able to buy won’t give you an edge in your gameplay: “as it is for World of Tanks, you don’t buy any competitive advantage, you’re not going to be able to buy a super weapon that’s way more powerful, but you’ll be able to buy some skins. It’s not going to be getting power, and in terms of content, you’re not going to be buying extra modes or stuff like that.”
When briefing us on the latest addition to WoWS, the devs described submarines as a new angle to naval warfare, one that would lean heavily into the concept of “risk vs reward.” When playing with the submarines, I found it greatly rewarding when I was able to successfully stealth the waters and scout opponents.
