WoT: EU March Top of the Tree: Kranvagn

Source: EU Portal

Thanks to a certain furniture store, Swedish products have a claim to fame with complicated instructions and unpronounceable names. While this might hold true for bookshelves and dinner tables, Swedish tanks up to the Kranvagn are straightforward and don’t need to hide behind other tank lines, although hiding seems to be what they were made for. Thanks to impressive gun depression angles for most of the tanks in this line, which starts off light, sees some mediums, and ends in heavy tanks, Swedish tanks are best played in hull-down positions and on uneven terrain. The gun selection, dominated by 7.5 cm calibre ones in the middle, shines with decent penetration values, but the main attractions are the autoloaders for Tier VIII to X.

The combination of tough turrets and high potential damage will let you disassemble enemy tanks from 5 March at 06:00 CET to 20 March at 06:00 CET (UTC+1).

5 years of TAP

Today we mark half a decade since TAP first went online. That moment feels like yesterday. This blog was made in order to replace another site, which closed on the day we opened. We (me and Bloodsnow) could not really get over it, so we took matters into our own hands, learning everything from scratch, with no leakers or translators given to us from our predecessor. Needless to say, a tough road was ahead and most TAP members did their best to overcome any obstacles. I taught a few former authors how to post but unfortunately they left and started their own things without giving credit, but such is human nature. I made some mistakes in the past too though, giving those people a reason to leave and I’m deeply sorry for that. Will make sure not to repeat them again. Human interaction is not my forte, sadly.

TAP is here to stay and outlast everything, including the games we post about. I know how it’s like to lose a great site, I don’t want to do that to TAP readers.

I’m really sad about the lack of Q&As and historical articles, but thankfully we can fix the historical part somewhat with some help from Erwin.

I would like to use this post to ask everyone in the comments for feedback on TAP and the new domain/theme. Previous feedback could not be received due to the paid nature of the WPForms plugin we were not aware about.

I try to make TAP load as quick as possible, but there are still 500 internal server errors very rarely. Do not be scared and simply refresh the page. I talk to support whenever this happens to me.

Next year in the summer I’ll finish uni hopefully, and that will mean more time for TAP, at least for a while. Please bear with me until then.

-Seb

Supertest: ISU-152K Initial Stats

Coming soon to the Supertest is the ISU-152K, a Soviet Tier VIII TD.

Its outstanding feature is the 152-mm BL-10 gun, which boasts high armor penetration and an alpha of 750 points. The basic round can pierce 286 mm of steel while the special APCR round can break through 329 mm. The gun’s accuracy is not that impressive (0.41) and neither are its aiming time (3.4 seconds) or rate of fire (3.16 shots per minute).

In terms of protection, the ISU-152K is on par with its researchable counterpart the ISU-152, with 90 mm of armor at the front of the conning tower and an HP pool of 1,200 points. The dynamics are similar with the ISU-152K having a top speed of 40 km/h and a specific power of 12.7 hp per tonne of weight.

All in all, the ISU-152K is very much like its tech tree ‘relative’. The differences with the researchable TD are subtle: the horizontal firing arc is a bit wider, the armor penetration of the gun is a bit higher—at a cost of slightly lesser mobility and a slightly longer reload time. You don’t have to adjust to this vehicle as its play style is familiar to the majority of tankers: an ambush TD with high one-time damage.
