WoT EU: Lunar Challenge Marathon

From EU Portal

With the holiday season finally over, we’re happy to… celebrate once again! There’s a long-lasting tradition here at World of Tanks to mark the Lunar New Year with a blast, so we’ve prepared a special challenge for every tanker to test their skills.

As an occasion celebrated around the world, the Lunar New Year is also known for its many stories. According to the Chinese zodiac, this year’s symbol is the Ox. So, we decided to search for a tank that can embody this mighty animal.

And we found one! Please welcome the 122 TM, a Tier VIII Premium medium tank. It’s not your usual suspect from the Chinese roster. When it comes to specs, there are a few traits that make this tank differ.

The Lunar Challenge

February 12, 2021 at 09:00 CET through February 22, 2021 at 09:00 CET (UTC+1)

First off, the 122 TM can take a hit. It is surprisingly well-armored for a medium, making it one of the most protected MTs at Tier VIII. The price you pay for increased armor is a low power-to-weight ratio, resulting in poor dynamics and a feeling similar to that of a heavy tank.

However, it’s when studying the gun’s features that you understand there’s no need to rush. Its default penetration is 233 mm, and if one of this tank’s high-velocity shells makes it through enemy armor, it will bite off a significant 400 hit points. The gun depression reaches as low as –8 degrees, which, considering the nation’s standard of –5 degrees, makes the 122 TM the first Chinese tank you can comfortably bring to hilly terrain.

The reload time is 17.5 long seconds, which can be frustrating in the heat of a close battle, and the accuracy of 0.33 is another argument against going for a clinch. The 122 TM is a rare case when both the advantages and drawbacks contribute to the vehicle’s ideal role—long-range sharpshooting damage dealer.

  • A multi-season style designed to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

The Ox is the second of the twelve Chinese zodiac signs and the symbol of the year 2021. When the Jade Emperor ordered the calendar years to be named after the animals that would come to him, the Ox immediately began its journey from the gates of heaven. A rat joined him, but just before the end of the journey the rat overtook the ox and rushed to the Emperor’s feet. The Ox is a patient and dignified animal, but in the blink of an eye it can turn into a charging beast, destroying everything in its path. Watch out for him. Lunar Challenge: 3D “Special Guest” Style for the 🇨🇳 122 TM Pictures

Style treated as a non-historical, valued at 3,000 gold.

There is a weakly burning candle on the base of the cannon.

– “Here he is – the pearl of our parade. He had spent a lot of time under the tarpaulin, but finally it’s time to shine. What better to guide the column than this gem? Cleaned of dust and rust, it will play the first fiddle. Now it’s a decoration, status symbol, and special guest. Imagine it: a majestic beast rolling down a wide avenue, firing fireworks. Behind her, a marching formation of soldiers. And more soldiers. And then… The drums set the beat, followed by vehicles, vehicles and even more vehicles. And the joyful crowd stands along the avenue and laughs. I’m so glad we’ve been using these tanks for so many years only on special occasions. You don’t need to use them in any other way anymore, just to cheer people up at parades. Maybe that’s the best way to use them. “ Continue reading “Lunar Challenge: 3D “Special Guest” Style for the 🇨🇳 122 TM Pictures”

Sandbox 2021: Try Out the Reworked HE Shells!

Source: EU Portal

Earlier, we announced a series of Sandbox tests that will affect the entire game, as well as every commander. Together, we will decide on some very important changes that will significantly affect World of Tanks and its further development.

The first test starts today and will last until February 15. The main aim will be to test the reworked mechanics for causing damage with HE shells.

We ask you to put on your testing hats and see how much easier it is to survive HE shells when playing in heavily armored vehicles, and how much more effective HE shells of low and medium calibers have become. Play in different vehicles, complete the questionnaire, and give us your feedback! To show our gratitude, all active players who take part in the test will receive valuable rewards for their contribution and time.

Sandbox: HE Shell Rebalancing Test

February 8, 14:00 CET through February 15, 10:00 CET (UTC+1)

Previous HE Shell Tests

Previous HE shell tests on the Sandbox proved very useful. They emphasized the value of HE shells and gave us a direction for further reworking this shell type. The survey results, feedback, and statistics provided us with the necessary information on how to change the HE shell damage mechanics. The tests also made it clear to us that the suggested changes did not meet your expectations, especially those of you who used HE shells and actively played in vehicles equipped with howitzers.

Today, we invite you to test the updated HE shells and decide whether the WoT community is satisfied with this concept. Note that in this version, HE shells can penetrate armor, but it is the damage of non-penetrating shots that was changed. Please assess the changes from different perspectives, complete the questionnaire, and provide your direct feedback.

Our main goal is to keep the things you enjoy the most about HE shells:

  • Fun and exciting gameplay
  • Ease of use
  • High chances of causing damage
