The amazing season of miracles is around the corner, and I thought, why not spend it with you? It’s time for the long-awaited Holiday Ops—with a magical atmosphere, festive bonuses, special combat missions from me, and tons of other wonderful surprises. Follow me to get your share of joy, holiday spirit, and wonderful rewards! Alright, team—let’s kick some ice!

Event Summary

  • Holiday Ops 2022 kicks off on December 9, 2021, at 07:00 CET and runs until January 10, 2022, at 07:00 CET (UTC+1).
  • Complete Missions From Arnie to earn Small Boxes and additional rewards, including an exclusive 2D style and Arnold Schwarzenegger himself as a custom commander.
  • You can also get Small Boxes by completing the standard daily and Advent Calendar missions, as well as receive them in parcels from your friends through the Holiday Post.
  • In the previous Holiday Ops events, decorations had levels from I to V. This year, all decorations in the event have no level and are of equal value. They’re all magnificent and feature their own beautiful story. Let’s call them Standard Decorations.

Update 1.15: Holiday Ops 2022 Release Date + Patchnotes

Jump into Holiday Ops 2022, kicking off December 9, 2021, at 7:00 CET (UTC+1), and get ready to decorate your Garage, receive gifts, and complete special Missions From Arnold Schwarzenegger to earn some great stuff!

Map Changes

Berlin Map Improvement

  • Reworked the southern part of the map to make combat more playable there.
  • Divided and relocated the spawn points to improve the balance of approach times to key positions.
  • Improved lighting and color correction on the map.
  • Made many minor fixes to improve the balance and combat experience.

Cliff Map Improvement

  • Removed a non-playable access route to the hill with the lighthouse in square F7.
  • Removed the possibility to drive into and get stuck in non-playable areas in squares B4/B5 and K5.
  • Removed the possibility to drive into a non-playable area in square B1.

WoWS Closed Test, change to the mechanics of detection by planes

We are testing a new concept (tentatively called “Radio”) for the detection of enemy ships by planes. The new mechanics are related to the distance between the aircraft and their allied ships.

Please note: this is the first test of the concept, and if it successfully passes, it may be refined further still, and detailed information about how it works will be published later.

Any enemies detected by planes will be displayed for the whole team on the minimap. However, only allies who are within a certain radius of the squadron that is detecting the enemy ship will see the actual model of the ship — as long as does not become detected by the allied ships themselves. This distance can be adjusted individually for different planes.

In addition, a new consumable will also be tested: a reconnaissance aircraft designed for spotting the enemy so that allies can fire. It can be deployed the same way fighters are, but instead of attacking enemy planes, it allows nearby allies to see the enemy ships it detects.

The concept being tested will separate the two main tasks associated with enemy detection: aircraft carriers will still be able to gather information about enemy team movements, but the concentration of fire on the target they detect will be lower.

A turretless warrior, the Tier X FV217 Badger packs a mighty 123 mm gun capable of inflicting 3,388 HP/min—the highest DPM in the game. Its gun handling, aiming time, accuracy, gun depression, and rate of fire are all impressive, while the formidable frontal armor—up to 355 mm—lets it shrug off most conventional attacks. There are a few sneaky customers out there, though, and it won’t last against enemies who target its relatively weak lower plate or its side and rear armor. But the Badger is a worthy adversary for any team nonetheless. Either hold the fort or provide formidable fire support, and you’ll be welcomed into even the most ferocious of battles.
