Commanders!

Our Tank Festival just introduced one last game mode and not the least: The Great Race is back! If you want to become the king of the track, follow the simple guidelines below and enjoy the sweet taste of victory.

The Vehicles

The best racers make one with their machines. Before anything else, you should take your time to get to know them and understand which vehicle is best suited for you:

LEOPARD SPORT

Top Speed: 120 km/h
Acceleration: 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5s
Handling: low
Damage: 72 (6×12)
Reload time: 5s
HP: 1000

If speed is your thing, go for the Leopard Sport to reach the final line and its precious repairs in no time. You can burst fire but keep in mind that your reload time is pretty long!

T-50 SPORT

Top Speed: 100 km/h
Acceleration: 0 to 100 km/h in 2s
Handling: high
Damage: 22
Reload time: 1.5s
HP: 1000

Definitely the most forgiving vehicle of the three, the T-50 is manoeuvrable and easy to tame. It is heavier than its competitors but its stability and fast-firing gun can easily make up for its lack of top speed.

CHAFFEE SPORT

Top Speed: 110 km/h
Acceleration: 0 to 100 km/h in 3s
Handling: medium
Damage: 40
Reload time: 3s
HP: 1000

If you’re looking for balance, the Chaffee is the perfect compromise between speed and firepower, acceleration and handling. A true American tank, a Jack of all Trades, but also a Master of None.

Best Tactics

Now that you’ve picked a vehicle, here are some general tactics you can choose to apply while racing:

  • The Hare and the Tortoise: in The Great Race, finishing first doesn’t mean you will automatically win. The sooner you arrive, the better your repairs will be. This generally means you will have a batter chance to win the final fight for victory, but you can also choose to join the pit later with a relatively undamaged vehicle. After all: “To win a race, the swiftness of a dart; availeth not without a timely start”!
  • Watch your fire: locking on your targets with a right-click is easy, but landing your shots is actually harder than it seems. Only a small portion of the racing track allows you to make fire rain on your opponents, so save your shots for these smaller walls, or make sure to get some elevation by jumping from every ramp you can
  • Hunt in packs: it’s pretty hard to destroy your opponents before the end of the race, but some team spirit could actually help you out. If you’re racing as a platoon, coordinate your attacks on the same racer and follow the point above to achieve better results

Study the Track

Any professional driver will tell you: there’s no better advice than studying the racing track. So just make sure to memorise it with these brilliant pictures, and remember, practice makes perfect. So race as much as you can to remember:

  • Best firing positions – to maximise your damage to the enemy
  • Where are the fuel cans – they don’t deal damage but will slow you down
  • Ramps – to deal extra damage and record great replays
