Historical Reference:
In the 1960s, the Polish military became interested in Soviet developments of deep-rifled tank guns with high projectile muzzle velocity. The Polish project envisioned a classic heavy tank design with a welded hull and turret, a radar rangefinder, and an anti-aircraft mount controlled from the turret. As a backup armament option, a standard 122 mm gun was planned. Soon after, deep-rifled guns were deemed unpromising, and Poland, following the USSR, discontinued all work both on the guns and on the heavy tank project, which remained only on paper.
