🇫🇷Tornade [France, TD-10]
Historical Reference:
The Tornade tank destroyer project was developed in the late 1950s by the French company Brunon-Valette. Unlike the heavier Foch developed by AMX, the Tornade emphasized high mobility and was armed with a 155 mm Modele 1950 howitzer with a mechanized loading system, mounted in an oscillating turret.
To effectively engage enemy tanks, specially developed 155 mm HEAT and armor-piercing high-explosive rounds were included in its ammunition load. Since the Tornade featured relatively weak armor protection, its intended combat doctrine primarily involved ambush tactics against armored targets, followed by rapid repositioning. Ultimately, the project never progressed beyond the drawing board, and the simpler, more versatile AMX-30 was adopted by the French Army instead.
