WoT: Buryan In-Game Screenshots & Historical Reference

With the release of update 2.1.1, the Buryan tank (HT-9, premium) will be tested in Random Battles by Dev & ST.

Historical Reference:
One of the areas of postwar research focused on studying crew workplace ergonomics and the optimal crew size. Based on the data obtained, the “R&D 1476” project (unofficially “Buryan”) was developed, intended to implement the results of anthropometric studies in tank design.

The vehicle featured a classic layout, a spacious turret, and two loaders, providing a high rate of fire. However, its 55-ton weight, the enlarged side profile of the turret, and the absence of a hatch for the driver made it impractical. Reinforcing the sloped frontal hull further increased the mass, while the only engine suitable for the tank (the 6TD) at the time existed only as a technical concept.

The development ultimately failed: it proved impossible to balance weight and dimensions, protection, and crew ergonomics. In addition, by the late 1950s, layouts with autoloaders had emerged, allowing for reduced crew size, lower weight and frontal profile, and increased rate of fire.
