With the release of Update 2.1.1, the 🇯🇵 Kame tank (Tier IX Medium Tank, premium, mechanics: 5-round autoloader and Gun Cooling) will be tested in Random Battles by supertesters.
Historical background
A Japanese medium tank project developed in 1945 to counter Allied and Soviet medium and heavy tanks. The designers aimed to apply the most successful technical solutions from various tank schools: the vehicle combined torsion-bar suspension, good armor protection, a hull with rational armor plate angles, and a powerful gun. Due to its distinctive appearance resembling a turtle’s shell, the new tank received its own name — “Kame” (Japanese for “turtle”).
A separate engineering goal was to increase the rate of fire. For this purpose, a special external radiator was mounted on the gun, intended to significantly reduce barrel heating. The new tank had good prospects, but the construction of a prototype could not begin before Japan’s capitulation.
