G.I. Joe and Cobra Join the Battle in World of Tanks

Source: EU portal

World of Tanks is launching a special collaboration, and all of you can participate.

Created by HasbroG.I. Joe is one of the most popular action figure lines in the world. Generations of kids in the U.S. and beyond played with them and were captivated by the struggle of the international elite spec ops team against their sworn enemies of Cobra, a multi-faceted and masterfully coordinated global criminal network. Uncounted millions of battles which have been fought with plastic action figures (often commanded by present-day online tankers) have elevated G.I. Joe to the status of a cultural phenomenon.

And now, one global cultural phenomenon is about to meet another. The famous adversaries from G.I. Joe and Cobra have come to World of Tanks to settle their scores in their impressive new vehicles, the B.T.T. (having the same stats as the TS-5) and the B.O.A. (having the same stats as the T-54 first prototype).

The exteriors of the B.T.T. and the B.O.A. are non-historical; their display can be toggled on or off at any time in your Game Settings, under the General tab.

Transmission Incoming: Cobra Commander

Greetings from one Commander to another!

You know, Commander, they call me mercilessss. I would say effective… Oh… I managed to get to you before that fool Duke? Then disregard what I said. You see, me and my associates, we’re not just rebels at heart. We’re inventors, industrialists, and armored vehicle enthusiasts. I can see you are into powerful tanks. Look at this specimen we’ve recently assembled in our secret lair… I mean, our skunkworks facility. The Cobra B.O.A. can obliterate your enemies… and finally give ussss a chance to prevail over G.I. Joe. I have some military experience and would like to help you reach your goalssss.

Your decision is now, Commander. COBRA!!!

Transmission Incoming: Duke

Wherever there’s trouble, G.I. Joe is there, Commander!

I’m Duke, a G.I. Joe operative, and I’m honored to make your acquaintance. I’ll cut straight to the chase. Our intel has confirmed that Cobra have recently developed a new secret armored weapon to get an edge over us. So, we’re going to establish a presence in World of Tanks to contain the threat. We could use the help of a seasoned tanker like you, riding in our brand-new G.I. Joe Breakthrough Tank. The B.T.T. is well protected, packs quite a punch, and should be able to deal with that crazy Cobra gizmo, the B.O.A., should you meet on the battlefield. Hey, I would even go to the frontline with you.

Can’t wait to get into action again. YO JOE!!

Park the B.O.A. and the B.T.T. in Your Garage!

Legendary Tank Decals

The classic armored vehicles depicted on the decals in our G.I. Joe and Cobra packages are instantly recognizable to tankers who played with G.I. Joe action figures when they were kids.

M.O.B.A.T.

H.I.S.S.

G.I. Joe M.O.B.A.T. (Motorized Battle Tank, also Multi-Ordnance Battle Tank) first appeared in toy stores across the U.S. in 1982. In every box with a plastic vehicle (clearly resembling a real-life contemporary main battle tank), there was a figure of the driver named Steeler.

Cobra H.I.S.S. (High Speed Sentry), complete with a figure of a driver, was first released in U.S. toy stores in 1983. This futuristic war machine was armed with double Diablo cannons you could elevate and swivel.

Representing a different technological era, the M.O.B.A.T. and the H.I.S.S. didn’t make it into World of Tanks as playable armored vehicles. Instead, we’re introducing the B.O.A. and the B.T.T., which also embody the character of their respective factions to the full.

  1. After black market, after we saw the increase in price of the battle pass (and placing bounty equipment behind a paywall), they want to milk us even more. Jesus Christ, is WarGaming abandoning ship??

    1. This is just cosmetics, this is exactly the way you should want a F2P game to monetize. There’s even inscriptions available via missions so F2P players can get in on it if they want to.

    1. Sorry, it was major, not colonel.
Bloody western rank names always confuse me.

  2. Congratulations WG, you have moved from the silly to the downright idiotic. No offence.

    1. God forbid they do anything other than release more stupid tanks. I rather have this and more 3d skins for tanks than more vehicles. I mean, we can have non-historical themed skins for popular tanks and wg can always make multiple skins for one tank, as seen by the E50m BM and halloween skin. Historical skins based on real units and such is another possibility. The types of tanks that are grounded in reality are limited, but the imagination for skins is eternal. But no, shits like you rather just cry about “muh realism” when that has already left

      1. Uh you completely misinterpreted my message I think this is great and am tired of people whining about it not being realistic

        1. I think you also misinterpreted my message, since I wrote it in agreement about the sod complaining. I prefer 3d skins than tanks. WOT tanks tend to be too naked, thats why I have a lot of modernization remodels to add some more stuff. Lol, but I agree with your message

  3. GI Joe all white american hero bashing commies. Same as Chuck Norris. How ironic for a game that comes from Communist Belarus haha
