Polish Insider News

Rykoszet.info came up with more news from their WG employee. I suggest you to take it with a smaller grain of salt than last time.

-After the introduction of the new (supertest) patch, you can see the Pz.Kpfw. V Berge-Panther in the game files – few people know about the existence of the tank. It can have the same fate as the other premium tanks which were not introduced in-game.

Creation of new models for a new line of British heavy tanks is underway, while a British light tank line is also being worked on. It all depends on WG, whether they will bring the new lines. The company wants to check if the new vehicles would be fit to play with and if the branch interests WoT players/interests more people in playing WoT (Seb: not sure about this one).

I call bullshit. The old Tier VI Pz V/IV was renamed into Pz.Kpfw. V Berge-Panther after the tank was rebalanced and moved to Tier V instead of removing the Tier VI one from the game files.

Can’t see the logic in this one. Why waste money and time on new models if they will be never introduced?

  2. Bergepanther??
But… that’s the tank-rescue variant, with no armament and a crane and towing system installed in place of the turret! How would they implement a vehicle rescuing tank that has literally nothing to shoot with??

Or maybe… they want to implement it for a special gamemode? Perhaps normal battles?
I imagine that a Bergepanther would ‘heal’ damaged tanks or something. That would be interesting!
Balancing that could be done with simply locking down both vehicles’ actions for x amount of time, until the repair is done.

Oh, I would play the shit out of that, I love to support my teammates that are worthy!

      1. Well isn’t that just interesting. Too bad the Bergetiger is just an Allied fan theory (lol), so it shouldn’t really appear with this name, really. I just checked its wiki page, its crane wasn’t fit to recover and tow disabled tanks.

        1. The Bergetiger is not a fan theory.
You should read the history of the schwere Panzerjaeger Abteilung 653…
And there is also photographic evidence of Bergetiger with Henschel and Porsche suspension.

          1. Nonono, you got me wrong, I was meant the name of it, not the vehicle!
Should have had made it more obvious…

You are absolutely right on the other details you said.
It was just that no such name as ‘Bergetiger’ (and its variations) were ever recorded in any official German archive or anywhere, it was a nickname the Aliied forces gave the vehicle.

That’s about the same as the German soldiers calling that specific T-34-76 variant Mickey Mouse because its hatches made it look like the famous rodent, when opened.

        2. And no of course the crane could not be used to recover any tank, silly thought, the vehicle was used in tandem to recover, the crane was used for maintenance e.g. engine lifting or other heavy components .
Recovery was usually done in tandem with 2-3 vehicles to recover one tank, depending on ground.
          Side note
it was usually forbidden for Tiger tanks to help in recovery because they often bogged down or broke too
Yet there are still many photos where you can see Tigers helping out to recover…

      1. The Panther V/IV was a ‘failed experiment’, its turret was literally welded on the Panther hull. That thing has nothing to do with the recovery vehicle based on the Panther Ausf. A chassis. So either WG is retarded, or very retarded.

But I get what you are saying nonetheless.

  3. Bergepanther was a recovery vehicle.
    “bergen” means recover in German.
Introducing it as a combat vehicle is utter nonsense, but then again this rumor fits to the tons of bullshit tanks the WG WoT team already introduced to the game…

Yes, there is also evidence that some Bergetiger existed, with Henschel and Porsche suspension.
