Command the first tanks to have ever gone into combat and dogfight in the skies with aircraft, or immerse yourself by piloting a Zeppelin airship, capable of bombing enemy targets. An event like this wouldn’t be complete without AI infantry, who roam around the trenches and in no man’s land at the front line.

WoT 1.28.1 Common Test: Vercingétorix In-Game Screenshots & Historical Reference

With the release of Update 1.28.1, the Vercingétorix (🇫🇷 France, MT-9, premium, mechanic: engine mode switching) will be tested in random battles by developers and supertesters.

Historical Reference:

A heavy tank project developed in the mid-1950s as an alternative to the AMX-50 program. The hull was designed to be as low as possible, and many technical solutions already featured elements that would later appear in the AMX-30.

WoT 1.28.1 Common Test: Sentinelle In-Game Screenshots & Historical Reference

With the release of Update 1.28.1, the Sentinelle (🇫🇷 France, HT-9, premium, mechanic: 2-shell drum autoloader) will be tested in random battles by developers and supertesters.

Historical Reference:

A joint project between the defense ministries of Italy and France, named Sentinelle (Sentinel). The design was based on the Char Lourd AP 58, with Italy providing the turret and armament, while the optics and communication systems were of French origin.

With the release of Update 1.28.1, the Brennos (🇫🇷 France, HT-8, premium) will be tested in random battles by developers and supertesters.

Historical Reference:

After World War II, the French sought to develop a heavy tank based on their accumulated experience. All pre-war and wartime French heavy tank projects were reviewed. Many components and assemblies showed clear German influence, as France had an abundance of information on the Panther and Königstiger. Some ideas were even borrowed from the USSR—engineers attempted to replicate the famous “pike nose” of the IS-3.

WoT 1.28.1 Common Test: Chaffee Camouflaged In-Game Screenshots & Historical Reference

The Chaffee Camouflaged (🇺🇸 USA, LT-5, premium) makes its first appearance in Update 1.28.1. This is a separate version of the tank, in addition to the one used in the “Stories” mode (6th operation, “Postman”).

Historical Reference:

A historically inspired style based on a standard modification of the American tank used by Allied forces in Europe during the final stages of World War II. A camouflage net and special camouflage patterns allow the tank to be used for both reconnaissance and ambush operations.

Intriguingly, a response from a recent Q&A session with the current head of Lesta Games, Malik Khatazhaev, has given some further insight into the process behind the Wargaming–Lesta split, going so far as to confirm community speculation that the split was not fully finalized until August–September 2023:

Q: On what terms did you split? Are you really not paying Wargaming [to develop your game today]?

A: No, we do not pay, and it’s practically impossible to do so (since there is a lot of external control [regulations] over the operations).
