Update 1.9 Common Test Patchnotes

The Common Test is now live.

As you may know, we’ve recently tested a complex rebalance of many features called New Balance. Thanks to the massive participation and input from the community, we were able to understand how each of these changes was perceived, and we are very eager to bring the most positive ones to the players.

In particular, we have focused on delivering HP and ammo rack capacity increases for low-tier vehicles, making the Tech Tree clearer and easier to navigate, and developing the Collectors’ Vehicles system. We aim to introduce these features in the upcoming 1.9 Update.

Preliminary List of Changes [Common Test 1]

HP Pool Rebalance:

We increased the HP pool of all Tier I-VI vehicles. The ammo rack capacity of some vehicles was also increased. This ensures a more consistent durability progression from tier to tier. It also ensures improved overall performance, effectiveness, and survival time in low- to mid-tier battles, making them more enjoyable. New players can learn more from each of their battles and become better at the game more quickly.

Tech tree changes:

The new Collectors’ Vehicles category has been added. The Tech Tree interface was made more user-friendly, simple, and clear, especially for new players. All 92 vehicles relocated from the Tech Tree will stay in the game. They will become Collectors’ Vehicles, which can be purchased for credits in the Store. To rebuild the Tech Tree properly, some vehicles switched tiers or even types. Also, some new tanks will enter the game for the first time.

Boot camp changes:

Now, Boot Camp completion is rewarded with a special medal.

The interface was improved. A new video is played once Boot Camp is completed.

Movement Physics:

We improved the interaction between vehicles and some types of obstacles. Wheeled vehicles can now turn at a sharper angle when driving in reverse upon releasing the “Forward” key and holding the “Right” or “Left” key.

Other:

Progress in Boot Camp (if it has not been completed) will be reset. The technical characteristics of the vehicles used in Boot Camp will correspond to those of vehicles in the Tech Tree.

Changes to the UK vehicles:

The following vehicles are added:

 Cavalier

  • transition from the Matilda

 A46   (Tier VI light tank)

  • (for testing by Supertest players)

Changes to the technical characteristics of the following vehicles:

 Vickers Medium Mk. I

  • Changed the ammo rack capacity of the OQF 3-pdr Gun Mk. I from 90 to 205 shells
  • Changed the ammo rack capacity of the QF 6-pdr 8 cwt Mk. II gun from 60 to 140 shells
  • Decreased profitability by 31%
  • Changed the vehicle durability with the Vickers Medium Mk. I turret from 140 to 300 HP

WoT 1.9 Update: New Medals

Thirteen new medals were added in Update 1.9.

“Worthy Apprentice” Medal”
– Awarded to players who have completed all stages of the tutorial.

Medal collector: “given nation”
Keep all of the nation’s collectible vehicles in the garage. Modules not researched yet do not prevent the player from receiving a reward.

Collectible vehicles will greatly simplify the branches of many nations, which will be easier to navigate from now on. At the same time, you can still enjoy the extensive collection of tanks in your garages. What’s more, we will also introduce new medals for unlocking collectible vehicles, which will lengthen the list of your achievements in the game.

Version 1.9: New Player Badges

In Update 1.9, two new player badges were added:

“Frontline 2020: True Spirit” badge
– Awarded for achieving the maximum level four times in Frontline 2020 mode.

“Worthy Apprentice” badge
– Awarded for completing Training Grounds.

WoWS: Legacy Launcher to be replaced by Wargaming Center

Over the last few years, we’ve been constantly updating the Wargaming Game Center (WGC) to enable us to deliver the ultimate player experience. Some of you have been on this journey with us, and have witnessed the WGC becoming not only a game-launching platform, but also an important communication tool that delivers the latest game news, updates, and special events.

While there is always room for improvement, we’re delighted with what has been achieved and how WGC is currently performing.

If we look at the numbers—in 2019 we carried out 24 major updates, touching on functionality, user-experience, and the game login system. All these updates have shaped the Wargaming Game Center into the form we’ve come to appreciate so much.

So, what’s next?

We would encourage you to join the enormous community of players on the WGC, if you haven’t joined them in using it already, as more updates and cool news are on the way.

Meanwhile, we would like to let everyone know the following: starting from May 20, we’ll no longer support the Launcher due to technical reasons. This means that the Launcher will no longer be available for download for those who might be inclined to log in to the game that way. All players currently using the Launcher will automatically be moved to the WGC.

After the transition, all players—no matter whether you’ve switched to the WGC or not—will be granted some amazing in-game items.
