Vz. 68-2 “Britva” [🇺🇳United Nations, MT-8, premium, autocannon mechanics]
Historical Reference:
In response to the start of the Spähpanzer program in West Germany, a project for a fast medium tank intended for reconnaissance and for supporting medium and heavy tanks in combat was considered in Czechoslovakia.
Broad cooperation with Soviet factories and design bureaus was planned, with a number of components and systems borrowed from Soviet projects. The chosen armament was a twin mount of Czechoslovak 50 mm ZK 500 automatic cannons firing subcaliber ammunition. The 5TD engine, suspension elements, fire control systems, radio equipment, and electrical systems were expected to be supplied by the USSR.
The initial requirements included amphibious capability, but as armor protection increased during further development, this requirement was abandoned, although a number of amphibious equipment elements were retained on the vehicle. In terms of protection, the emphasis was placed on high mobility and a small frontal profile, which was intended to ensure the vehicle’s survivability on the battlefield. Taking into account the existence of domestic Soviet projects and the strict secrecy regime, Soviet interest in the vehicle quickly faded, which ultimately led to the project being canceled.

What a life of talent and misfortune. By choosing to don a sturdy protective suit, the dream of conquering the waves had to be put aside, remaining an unfulfilled aspiration.
