World of Tanks 2.0: Under the Hatch of Tier XI

Details about the biggest update in the game’s history have just been revealed live on stage at gamescom 2025, and there’s a lot to unpack. From a fully redesigned Garage and streamlined interface to new PvE missions, a sweeping rebalance, and more. Update 2.0 sets the stage for a new era of World of Tanks!

One of the most exciting moments from the show was our first look at Tier XI, the brand-new top-tier vehicles. These are 16 new vehicles that expand several Tech Trees and add a fresh layer of tactical depth with unique Special Mechanics and a new upgrade system. Watch the video to dive into the Tier XI highlights with commentary from our Creative Director. And read on for a breakdown of the next evolution of high-tier armored warfare.

Introducing Tier XI

Tier XI takes your Tech Trees beyond Tier X, introducing 16 new vehicles: 15 across different lines, and 1 as a Personal Missions campaign reward. And each formidable machine brings more than raw stats. They redefine what top-tier vehicles can do on the battlefield.

Special Mechanics

Every Tier XI vehicle comes with a unique mechanic tailored to its tactical role. Some mechanics are active tools, others provide passive bonuses or situational effects, adding depth without complicating core combat.

The New Upgrade System

Tier XI vehicles feature a modular upgrade system exclusive to this tier:

  • Linear, Tech-Tree-like progression

  • Purely positive upgrades with no trade-offs

  • Unlock small (10,000 XP), large (20,000 XP), and final (25,000 XP) nodes

  • Focus on firepower, mobility, or survivability

  • Customize equipment loadouts and enhance your vehicle’s Special Mechanic

Unlock all nodes and achieve Elite Status, opening up exclusive visual customizations:

  • Volumetric Styles – add textured 2D surfaces for a striking look

  • Gun Sleeves – new 3D barrel attachments unique to Tier XI

  • Stat Tracker – real-time enemy kill counter mounted on your vehicle

Seamless Advancement

Tier XI vehicles are direct successors to iconic Tier X lines, with the exception of the Personal Mission reward, Black Rock. They continue each line’s established gameplay style, without any complicated extra branches or convoluted requirements. Unlocking these giants feels natural and rewarding.

Earn 325,000 XP in a Tier X vehicle and spend 7,400,000 Credits to purchase a Tier XI vehicle.

Spotlight: Taschenratte

Germany’s ultra-heavy Taschenratte, evolved from the Maus, is a perfect showcase of Tier XI mechanics. Designed for unmatched survivability, it features:

  • Huge health pool and reinforced armor

  • Secondary Weapon System firing HE shells to disable modules or finish off enemies

  • Perfect for holding lanes, stopping pushes, and punishing flankers

Every Tier XI vehicle introduces new layers of tactical depth tailored to its role and playstyle.

Evolving Progression

The new top-tier vehicles introduce a brand-new modular upgrade system exclusive to Tier XI. They don’t use traditional Field Modifications like Tier VI to Tier X, but an upgrade tree that offers only benefits—without penalties or tough choices.

Upgrade nodes come in small (10,000 XP), large (20,000 XP), and final (25,000 XP) variants, with larger nodes significantly boosting your vehicle’s unique mechanic. The system uses a linear, Tech-Tree-like structure. Unlock up to 25 upgrade nodes and tune your vehicle to your liking. Emphasize firepower, mobility, or survivability, unlock alternate equipment loadouts, change slot types, and enhance your Special Mechanic.

Elite Status

Eventually, you’ll complete the entire progression tree, but the order is up to you, letting you tailor your vehicle’s strengths to your favorite way of fighting.

Once all progression nodes are unlocked, your Tier XI vehicle achieves Elite status. From there, battles will increase your Elite level, unlocking exclusive visual customizations such as:

Volumetric Styles

Gun Sleeves

Stat Tracker

  1. Tier 9 is about to become the new HP pinata tier for Tier 11

To get to tier 11 you need to spend a million XP and 100 million credits where you can get tanks like the IS-7(e) which was invented by Igor in the Leningrad lap dancing club in 1963 while balancing a bottle of vodka on his head.
The IS7(e) has 1200 HP shots with 400 Pen and a 6 second reload and can teleport twice to any location on the map after 120 seconds of gameplay

    Strovia !

It’s going to be a shitshow and WoTs FOMO brigade are about to have their wallets emptied

    Merry Xmas ho-ho-ho

    1. What? are you high? they already said you need 325k xp and 7.4 mil credits. Stop hating if you dont know the facts crybaby.

      1. But you forgot about the cost for new modules (new module system). It is another 500k xp you would need to use just for one tank.

    2. Iam an idiot but you just went above me with all that cringe slop you said there also if you told us this means you dont have money than switch to other f2p game but trust me wot isnt the worst in terms of content for money but you would need iq higher than tier 3 avarge HE penetration to research that gimp

    3. So from now on, I won’t waste another second of my life reading your posts. I’ve persevered until today, subjecting myself to your nonsense over and over again. What did WG do to you that you’re so full of hate? It’s frightening how angry someone can be about a game. In any case, I hope you can let go someday and find peace.

    4. They said in the video the Match Maker will be +1/-1 Matches from 2.0 on. +2/-1 would be unfair for tier IXs, and they tested for that and it was apparently horrible, so they’ve changed the Matchmaker to be +1/-1

Also all of the tier XI’s will be a minimum of 325,000 EXP to research, and 7,400,000 credits to purchase

      1. no. they said mm will prioritize 1 tier difference battles, not that 2 tier diff wont be happening anymore.

        1. Yes but remember not many everyone will have a new teir 11 vehicle. So the matchmaker won’t be able to do that. So it will with 10 and 9…

  2. Anyone remember this SH!T?!? Turned out just as fake as the lousy copypasta troll who posted it:

“Thanks to a glitch (using a fake email from Emailnator) and signing the NDA (a fake signature) I managed to see the Closed Test contents:

-Flamethrower tanks are being tested, with a Ez-8 Sherman, Churchill VII, T-34-85 and Tiger I as testing. It’s way more unbalanced than Lesta. NOPE!

-Tier XI tanks are here, with a M60A3 SLEP, Leopard 1A1A5, Challenger 1 Proto and T-62 (not the T-62A, but the 115mm smoothbore gun one) with special features for each tank (all get ERA armor, SLEP gets way faster aiming and circle size than a Grille 15, Leopard a stealth module to give it superb camo, Challenger an APDSFS round that deals tremendous damave and penetration and T-62 a jamming radio hability that jams enemies and lowers their skills a bit). Tier XIs have a cost of 15 million credits each and 500K experience each, with all modules researched like Tier X tanks. NOPE!

-Crew 2.0 changes and Rubicon’s unfamous stickers are back, customize your tank with the 3D elements for extra module health, view range, reload speed, etc… NOPE!

-New premium Tier VIII artillery, S-51U with an Object 261 gun and lower stats to compensate (I know it sounds like a joke but the internal name of the tank is S-51_Premium_VIII_Test). NOPE!

-New skills for crew members to carry more ammo with some penalizations, faster tanks with motor break issues or shooting with a broken gun with the cost of random module damages, as examples. NOPE!

-Special updates on maps with meteorogical effects: rain, sandstorms, snowfalling, thunderstorms, and more. NOPE!

-The new 4th Item slot where you can equip a new experimental item alongside medkits and repair kits: an mortar barrage. Charges every 300 seconds and deals 10 mortar shots in a selected location that deal 300-1500 damage from Tier V onwards. NOPE!

-New MM system: We still have Tier I, II-IV and now we get V-VII and VIII-X as new tier bands, so Tier VII won’t see VIII anymore. As a compensation, E-25 Tier VII TD goed up to Tier VIII with increased stats. NOPE!

And that is all for now. They can’t report me as my country has no WG Offices to sue me, and even then they don’t know my true location.”

  3. WG take your deadly boring BP and throw it into the trash. Together with Tier 11 bullshit! The only thing which will happen is that you throw even more new tanks (that nobody really needs!) into this worn out game. And it will make our (expensive bough) tier 8 and tier 9 premiums useless during the time.

  4. Let’s go hand in hand
    Into lovely land
    Side by side
To a world that shines so bright

    Let’s go hand in hand
    Into lovely land
    Side by side
    Follow me into the light

  5. One new map

Two new modes no-one wants to replace Steel Hunter

A shedload of wallet emptying new supertanks

    and a mobile phone interface

    Let the party begin !

  6. I love how Quickybaby is shitting himself because he won’t have any teir 11.

Yeah you’ll have join random battles and grind 😵

  7. playing with tier XI would probably be very frustrating.
    whay?
because of medium tanks. ther is too many medium tanks in each battle. in my last battle 5 of them or 1/3 of team. and what happens. they only stick to last line and dont move at all. heavies are moving on blind and ends up in garage way soon and then madiums are just driving around.

medium ranks should all be nerfed a lot and ther should be no more then 2 of them per team.
2/3 of team should be heavies so this could be real battle game.
now it more looks like gta in last minutes when mediums finaly start to move from start positions.
