Historical Reference: In the post-war period, the development of self-propelled artillery in the USSR progressed along several paths. In addition to traditional assault SPGs, work began on fast-moving “self-propelled gun carriages.” This direction was pursued by the design bureau of UZTM. In particular, it was planned to develop an SPG project based on components of the Object 430 chassis in two variants with armament mounted in a rotating turret: an SPG equipped with a 152 mm gun-howitzer and a tank destroyer armed with a 122 mm gun. According to the engineers’ concept, both projects were to feature a low silhouette, high mobility, and a mechanized ammunition stowage system. However, neither project progressed beyond the technical design stage.
