🇮🇹 Gladiatore (Tier IX Heavy Tank, premium, mechanics: autoreloader)

The Gladiatore heavy tank project was developed in the late 1950s by the Italian company OTO Melara at the request of the Italian Ministry of Defense. Development was carried out in parallel with the “European Tank” project being worked on in West Germany and France.
According to the requirements of the Italian military, the Gladiatore was to weigh around 60 tons, be armed with a powerful 105 mm Cannone da 105/76 long-barreled gun, and feature armor protection capable of withstanding hits from contemporary Soviet 100 mm guns. In addition, the tank was required to have a low profile and be capable of operating effectively in mountainous terrain. However, during the evaluation of the preliminary design, it became clear that the vehicle would be too expensive and too complex for the Italian industry to produce. As a result, the project did not receive further funding and was ultimately canceled.
