In the early 1960s, the development of a medium tank with powerful armament, a low profile, and good mobility began in Czechoslovakia. The project differed from the conventional layout: the fighting compartment was located in the rear, the crew was positioned almost entirely inside the hull, and the gun in the oscillating turret was operated remotely.
Due to its complexity and high cost, the project was abandoned. The built prototype was sold to Egypt for testing, but it failed to meet expectations and was transferred to the United States in the mid-1970s for technology evaluation.
