Sav LS-46 [🇸🇪 Sweden, SPG-6]

Since 1943, the Swedes attempted to develop a tank to counter the T-34. One of these projects was the LS-46, a tank with a combat weight of 30 tons. The tank never progressed beyond the project stage, but Landsverk and Bofors jointly proposed various combat vehicles based on it. One of these was a self-propelled gun, conventionally designated as Sav LS-46. This was an unusual vehicle—an attempt to combine three roles in one: an assault SPG, a tank destroyer, and a howitzer SPG capable of firing along a high-arc trajectory. Externally, the vehicle resembled the pvkv m/43, but on a larger chassis. Its armament could have consisted of howitzers ranging from 105 mm to 149 mm in caliber. Unlike other Swedish SPGs of that period, the Sav LS-46 had a large gun elevation angle. The failure of the LS-46 tank development ultimately became the main reason why the Sav LS-46 remained only a concept design
