The Ares medium tank line introduced in Update 2.1.1 quickly became one of the most popular researchable branches in World of Tanks. Since the tanks’ release, we have been closely monitoring their performance as well as your feedback.

Based on this analysis, we have prepared balance adjustments for the Ares tanks. We want to ensure that they keep their unique place in World of Tanks while remaining attractive and engaging for you to play. At the same time, they must stay properly balanced in comparison with other vehicles in the game.

These balance changes will be introduced in Update 2.2 and aim to better regulate the tanks’ effectiveness in specific combat situations. You will be able to test them in advance during Common Test 3. Here’s what to expect:

  • All Ares tanks will receive a slight reduction to the base damage of standard and special shells, lowering the damage output of continuous fire.
  • HE shell damage will be reduced more significantly due to its higher-than-expected performance.
  • Some vehicles of this line will also have an increased delay before cooling begins, extending pauses between firing sequences.
  • All tanks in the branch will now deal 10 times less damage to enemy internal modules to better match their firing mechanics.
  • Additionally, armor on specific parts will be weakened to reduce survivability in direct engagements.
These adjustments will require more careful planning of firing sequences while preserving the Ares tanks’ core playstyle and unique continuous-fire damage mechanic.

  1. lol

Combined with autoaim cheating they’ve totally screwed the game with these things

Shouldn’t be long before an un-nerfable premium appears …but it should be totally gimped in some way if the usual predictable pattern is followed

    ho-hum

  2. where’s your evidence they never nerf premium tanks?. Because theres boatloads of premium tank nerfs evidence. the very firs premium tank nerf was the type 59 i beleib, to counter the type 59 scourge of 2011-2012. after that noone played the type 59 anymore, and WG learnt a valuable sales lesson that the FTP salty tears taught them: sell a premium for cash, make millions of dollars, then nerf it, and sell the next shiny toy. Well done FTPlayers.

    1. If there is “boat loads of premium tank nerfs” share some more recent premium tank nerfs other than a 15 year old nerf, give us maybe another 5 examples at least

      1. Some people are just… insufferable… 1 example that is dated 15 years ago… lots of changes… sure buddy.

If the majority of your costumerbase sound’s like him its no wonder that WG milks the living shit out of those retards xD like stealing candy from kids AND then they defend you for stealing.

        ABSOLUT CINEMA

WG follows a pattern. Release a free tt line and then sell them a really meta-competitive premium to generate cashflows. Business needs cash injections. Econ 1o1

Due to their stubbornness to nerf premium tanks they buffed a lot of premium tanks which were overperforming anyways…. when they overhauled spot range, all premium tanks kept theirs. See Leffe. 400m view range. On an arty piece? Sure.
Remember the camo after firing rebalance? Thats why E25 shreds in tier 7.
Light tank TT extension? All premium tanks effectively getting a big buff bc t7 prems were ment to fight t10 and were limited to t9 all of a sudden…
Progetto 46 got a 4th equipment slot for free, after they removed rammer from the free tt line.

Either people like big_m are fundamentally in denial or stupid. Neither is desirable.

I get it. You pay money and get a “thing”. If this “thing” gets changed afterwards you feel cheated.
But if this “thing” is toxic and hurts the fun and enjoyment of all other players, you are a selfish pos for blocking change…

  3. These things will still be very strong after the nerf. However, bad and average players won’t have it quite so easy anymore. Because then skill will be required.

  4. Where are ARES MTB nerfs? The tank is still not released to the public, therefore it’s still a subject to change. If they are nerfing the tech tree branch because it’s toxic and whatnot, they should address the premium tank ASAP, months before it’s released.

    1. This.

If wg releases ares mbt without changes it should give you a profound clue about their real intentions.

  5. I love how everyone still thinks WG are incompetent lol
Everything they do is on purpose for money and to see what the reaction is
