KV-4 Fedorenko [USSR, HT-7]
In response to information about work in Germany on super-heavy tanks in the spring of 1941, the USSR launched development of new heavy tanks of the KV-4 family. A competition for the best design was announced, with several dozen engineers from the Kirov Plant taking part.
One of the most original KV-4 projects was proposed by engineer S. F. Fedorenko. He suggested a two-turret layout—a main turret and an anti-aircraft turret. The main turret had an unusual shape: in addition to the main gun, it was also equipped with a flamethrower, while the anti-aircraft turret mounted a 45 mm tank gun. The tank’s hull was short, with rational angles of inclination on the frontal armor. Thanks to the reduced dimensions, Fedorenko increased the armor thickness to 140 mm. Compared to the other projects, the KV-4 Fedorenko looked the boldest. This boldness ultimately led to the abandonment of its implementation, although the idea of an anti-aircraft turret was ahead of its time.

Beautiful… beautifully ugly. Another tank I wouldn’t play because of its design. Even if it were super-powerful. No, just no.
