RDT-62 “Řezačka” [🇺🇳United Nations, MT-10, autocannon mechanics]
Historical Reference:
In the postwar years, Czechoslovak designers proposed a fire support and reconnaissance vehicle capable of withstanding direct combat even against heavy enemy equipment. The concept involved mounting rapid-firing 57 mm guns in a low-profile turret on the chassis of the Soviet T-62A medium tank.
When firing at the frontal projection, the high density of fire made it possible to reliably score multiple hits on weakened areas even of the most heavily armored enemy tanks. However, the Soviet version of the scout vehicle lost the military’s interest after work began in the USSR on missile tanks, which became the priority direction. There was also no realistic prospect of supplying the RDT-62 “Řezačka” to Warsaw Pact countries, and for Czechoslovakia alone the project proved too costly. As a result, it was canceled at the stage of manufacturing a mock-up of the combat module.
