Historical Reference:
In 1935, the first bureau of Experimental Plant No. 185 began developing an alternative to the T-29 tank. The project, titled “Heavy Armored Tank No. 115” (T-115), was designed with the shortcomings of its predecessor in mind. One of the vehicle’s distinctive features was the large vertical aiming angles of both its cannon and machine guns. In addition, it retained its wheel-and-track propulsion system.
The preliminary T-115 design was completed in February 1938. Later, several more variants appeared, including fully tracked configurations. However, by that time, multi-turreted tanks had become obsolete, so the prototype was never built.
