WoT: 🇩🇪leKpz Borkenkäfer In-Game Screenshots & Historical Reference

With the release of Update 2.0, the 🇩🇪leKpz Borkenkäfer (LT-11, techtree, mechanic: Laser Designator) will be introduced and become available for research in the tech tree after the Rheinmetall Panzerwagen.

Historical Reference
In the 1970s, Germany began developing a universal chassis for light tracked vehicles of the Bundeswehr. One of the projects based on this new chassis was a light tank unofficially called Borkenkäfer (Bark Beetle). The vehicle was equipped with a fairly powerful gun (up to 105 mm) and excellent mobility. High firing accuracy in all weather conditions was provided by a modern fire control system with a dual-channel sight and two rangefinders. Due to the complexity of the fire control system, the program was reduced to the PUMA project (Panzer Unter Minimalen Aufwand — tank with minimal expenses), and was eventually canceled. Although the chassis was built, the vehicle existed only on paper.

  1. Shame that in real life the project never went beyond paper, but at least in WoT we can finally drive it. One of those “what if” tanks that fits well into the game.
