Medieval art is full of surprises. A dancing skeleton here, an animal with too many heads there. Oh, and cats. Lots of them. And not normal cats, either. Weird, scary cats. Why do they have human faces? Why do they wear crowns, or play instruments, or just look so…silly? So many questions, so few answers. The medieval mind is a mystery to us, but we know one thing for sure: times change, but goofy cats are forever.
