Mausekönig ( Germany, Tier-11, Heavy Tank)
In 1942, development began on the super-heavy tank Pz.Kpfw. Maus. Alongside it, the idea emerged for a super-heavy tank that could serve as a mobile firing point. In early 1943, a project appeared with the internal designation Mausekönig (“Mouse King”). It incorporated solutions similar to those used in the Pz.Kpfw. Maus, notably an electromechanical transmission. Given its 250-ton mass, a four-track layout was chosen for the suspension system, featuring removable side skirts that supported the outer track runs.
For anti-aircraft defense, the tank was equipped with an AA turret and an additional 20 mm MG 151/20 autocannon mounted in the main turret. Unlike the Pz.Kpfw. Maus, this combat vehicle by Krupp was designed specifically as a means of reinforcing defensive lines. However, repeated bombings of the Krupp factories prevented the Mausekönig project from progressing beyond the sketch and concept stage.
